Heavy touring commitments, a knack for canny covers in showcases that count and some incredible think pieces have kept the band's profile floating up to the heavens.

New album 'Every Open Eye' ends the wait for actual, proper new material, though, and arrives on September 25th.

Annie Mac gave lead cut 'Leave A Trace' its first spin on Radio 1 a few moments ago, and it's a glorious, glistening piece of synth pop as only CHVRCHES can manage. Sugar coated but entirely urgent, the production seems to benefit from maturity, to make the most of experience. And Lauren's vocals are, as ever, heavenly.

Justin Vernon always has his hands in a few different projects — this year alone has seen the release of his Jason Feathers side project and a new Rosebuds album, which was recorded in his studio. Late last year, the Staves revealed that Vernon would be producing their sophomore album. “Blood I Bled” is the first Vernon-produced song from the British folk rock trio that we’ve heard and it’s an immaculately layered and crisp piece of music, characteristic of Vernon’s best tracks. “You may have noticed we’ve been away for a while now and lots of you have been asking if there is new material on the way. The answer is yes,” the group said on Facebook last week. “We have been working in deepest, darkest Wisconsin with some amazing human beings, and we really can’t wait for you to hear it.” Listen above.

Who Is Wayne Hussey?
Bristol born & bred, and passionate Liverpool FC supporter, Wayne Hussey, lauded by some as maverick legend and others as charlatan, has been making music since the day he was first inspired to pick up a guitar by watching Marc Bolan & T.Rex on Top of the Pops.

A long and excessive and sometimes just downright scandalous road has led Wayne to where he is today. One thing is certain about Wayne, he's certainly a divisive character. Playing with various “punk” bands in Liverpool (UK) at the tail end of the 70′s, and after enjoying the dubious pleasures of touring for the very first time with Pauline Murray & the Invisible Girls, he eventually met the flamboyant Pete Burns who asked him to join the then fledgling ‘Dead or Alive’. Two years spent in the service of the Scouse ‘Boy George’, schooled Wayne in such subjects as hairstyle, fashion, & gender bending.

It was the early 80′s after all, a period of time where style really was more prevalent than substance. After many failed hairstyles and with a suitcase full of stolen dresses and a couple of ‘hit’ singles, Wayne decided to leave Liverpool and Dead or Alive. He headed across the Pennines to Leeds (UK) to answer the call from Andrew Eldritch & The Sisters of Mercy. The Sisters needed a guitarist who could wear sunglasses in the dark and would spray paint provocative slogans on his guitar – Wayne was more than able and willing.

After another two years spent touring the world and developing some very bad habits, and contributing his song writing talents along with his very distinctive guitar sound to the seminal TSOM ‘First & Last & Always” album, Hussey, in a fit of inspired pique, left the Sisters with bassist Craig Adams to form The Mission. The Mission went on to considerable global success in the late 80′s and early 90′s, enjoying album sales in excess of four million worldwide with notable works such as ‘God’s Own Medicine’ and ‘Carved In Sand’ amongst others and enjoying an unbroken run of 14 UK Top 40 singles! They forged a reputation that still stands today as one of the best ‘live’ bands in the world, thanks in no small part to the charisma & energy that Hussey exudes & exerts on stage.

Original members Simon Hinkler, Craig Adams, and Wayne Hussey re-united in late 2011 to celebrate their 25 year anniversary with a sell out tour, and released a new album containing 12 Hussey newly penned songs, the very brilliant ‘The Brightest Light’ in September, 2013.

Who Are The Cold War Kids?
Cold War Kids means International Blues. We began in August '04 with friends, jangly guitar, hand claps, and a Harmony amp in a storage room atop Mulberry Street restaurant in downtown Fullerton, CA. For the first practices, having instruments was secondary to stomping and chanting; Clanging on heat pipes, thumping on plywood walls. Hollering into tape recorders. Slipping and swaying into alleyways and juke joints of yesteryear. Tapping in to the American dustbowl and British maritime. On the restaurants roof the sound and feeling was cultivated and burned, built and hallowed out, painted and stripped to the primer.

Almost three years have passed and we haven't let up since the starting gun fired. The album "Robbers & Cowards" was released in the US in October '06 on Downtown and the rest of the world in February '07 on V2. 'Why even have apartments?' We often ask ourselves as we have toured with the vim of a family reunion brawl across the US, UK, Europe, Australia and Japan.

Cold War Kids strive to make honest songs about human experience in orchards and hotel rooms, laundromats and churches, sea ports and school halls. We love the songs of Dylan, Nina Simone, and the Velvet Underground and make our own, which we like to think, are pretty original.

Who Is Superfood?
