News ; Little Mix's Perrie 'Didn't Really Like Zayn' When They First Met!

Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has revealed she wasn't fiancé Zayn Malik's biggest fan when first meeting him backstage at the X Factor in 2011.

Speaking of the One Direction hunk during an interview with Sugarscape, the Salute singer revealed: "I didn't really like Zayn when I first met him, because I didn't know him and he seems a bit cocky and a bit full of himself."

She went on: "Then I realised that he's the most sweetest, most amazing person in the world, so you just need to get to know someone really.

"I think we texted every day after we met anyway and then it just happened. But he pursued me."

The pair have been dating ever since, with Zayn popping the question to Perrie in August last year.

News : Selena Gomez Praises 'Powerful and Really Cool' Lorde Despite Come & Get It Diss

News : Selena Gomez Praises 'Powerful and Really Cool' Lorde Despite Come & Get It Diss

Selena Gomez has proved herself to be the bigger person after heaping praise on Lorde for being “powerful” and “really cool” despite being dissed by the 'Royals' singer for being over-sexualised and singing racy lyrics.

The 'Come & Get It' star surprisingly singles out the New Zealand hitmaker for being one of the most promising acts in pop at the moment and acting as a good role model for young fans due to her unapologetic need to voice her opinions.

In an interview with Seventeen magazine, Selena admitted: “There is one artist that I think is very powerful. She doesn't really like me, but that's all right. Her name's Lorde and she's really cool. I mean, I do think her message is very powerful. She's very young but she's got a lot to say and that's great, so more power to her.”

Selena's comments may come as a huge surprise considering Lorde, 17, appeared to diss the former Disney star's hit single 'Come & Get It.'

“I love pop music on a sonic level. But I’m a feminist and the theme of her song [Come & Get It] is, ‘When you’re ready come and get it from me.’ I’m sick of women being portrayed this way," Lorde told J-14 magazine.

Over the last few months, Lorde has become close friends with Selena's BFF Taylor Swift with the pair hanging out together in Australia and even at the 2014 Grammys last weekend.

Meanwhile, Selena, 21, continued to share her thoughts on girl power and what it means to her in the Seventeen interview, saying: “I think girl power can mean so many different things, especially because we live in a time where it's so competitive with females - whether it's fashion or boys or friends and boys and boys and boys.

“It's really unfortunate. I feel like girl power is almost more powerful and more special than anything you're competing for.”

News : R.I.P. Benjamin Curtis

News : R.I.P. Benjamin Curtis

Benjamin Curtis, guitarist for indie-pop duo School Of Seven Bells, died earlier this week after a battle with a rare form of lymphoma. He was 35 years old.

Born in Oklahoma, Curtis’ music career began in earnest as a member of the psych-rock outfit Tripping Daisy. In 2000, he and his brother formed the group Secret Machines, which released albums up until 2007, when School Of Seven Bells began. The band released three albums and won praise from the likes of Pitchfork and from Rolling Stone scribe David Fricke.

Curtis was diagnosed with the disease in February and had undergone an intense treatment program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before his passing. The members of the band have asked that fans show respect for Cutris’ family and friends at this time, and his managers have set up an e-mail account through which fans can send consolatory messages

News : Lady Gaga Debuts ARTPOP At ITunes Festival: 'Jewels & Drugs,' 'Sex Dreams' Among New Songs

With flying pigs and wigs, Lady Gaga debuted her "ARTPOP" songs at the iTunes Festival.

The pop star performed seven new songs, as she headlined the event at London's Roundhouse Sunday night.

It is Gaga's first solo show since she had hip surgery in February.

The concert started with her swinging over the audience in a cage and involved many on-stage costume changes, elaborate wigs and dancers in hazard suits wearing pig masks, hanging from the ceiling.

The songs included "Jewels & Drugs" _a rap number featuring T.I._ pop song "Sex Dreams" and ballad "I Wanna Be With You."

Also the title track of Gaga's new album, "ARTPOP," which is released Nov. 11.

iTunes Festival continues throughout September with Elton John, Justin Timberlake and Katy Perry on the line-up.

News : Miley Cyrus, Kanye West Collaboration Confirmed!

News : Miley Cyrus, Kanye West Collaboration Confirmed!

Miley Cyrus will feature on a remix of Kanye West’s BLKKK SKKKN Head, her producer Mike WiLL Made It has revealed.

Mike Will, who is responsible for Miley’s hit We Can’t Stop, confirmed that the 20-year old star and Yeezy had been working together after rumours surfaced that the two had skipped an MTV VMAs after party for the studio.

Speaking to MTV’s RapFix Live, the producer said of their collaboration: "It’s about done, we’re just touching the beat up a little bit. It’s sounding crazy."

Will also talked about Kanye’s opinion of Miley’s twerktastic performance at the VMAs, saying that the outspoken rapper understood it.

He explained: "He told her she did it right, too. Ye is someone who understands. I think someone who understands isn’t going to have anything to say about the performance."

Miley’s latest music video, Wrecking Ball, has also caused controversy, with the former Hannah Montanna star going nude for the Terry Richardson-directed clip.

The star has since defended the promo, stating that viewers should look at the real meaning of the song: “If people can take their minds off the obvious and go into their imagination and see what the video really means, it is so vulnerable.”

The single will feature on her upcoming album, Bangerz, due for release in the UK on October 7.

News : White House Petition to Make R. Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix)” the National Anthem Goes Viral

News : White House Petition to Make R. Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix)” the National Anthem Goes Viral

This is probably not what the White House had in mind when they made petitions searchable on WhiteHouse.gov.

S.R. of Wilmington, North Carolina has created a petition to make R. Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix)” the new National Anthem of the United States.

The petition, posted on WhiteHouse.gov, reads as follows:

As of October 3, 2011, petitions that met the listed criteria became searchable on WhiteHouse.gov once — and if — they reach 150 signatures within 30 days. If that was accomplished, for President Obama to actively consider a petition, it must have reached 25,000 signatures within the remainder of the same 30-day period.

The White House has always reserved the right to change the time limit and number of signatures required, and did exactly that in the wake of a petition that urged the U.S. government to begin construction on a Death Star to be completed by 2016.

Now a petition must reach 100,000 signatures within 30 days.

News : DJ Ajax Dead: Adrian Thomas Dies After Being Hit By Truck In Australia

News : DJ Ajax Dead: Adrian Thomas Dies After Being Hit By Truck In Australia

Australian producer Adrian Thomas, better known as DJ Ajax, died in the early morning hours of Feb. 28 after he was hit by a truck in Australia.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported DJ Ajax died on the scene after he ran out onto a Melbourne road and was hit by an oncoming truck shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday.

Reports are conflicting, but News Limited's news.com.au is reporting that Ajax died on his birthday. Melbourne's DJ Grant Smillie allegedly revealed this tragic news to the Herald Sun. The Huffington Post could not confirm this at the time of publication.

Sydney’s Chinese Laundry nightclub, where Ajax was a resident mixer, was one of the first to break the news of Ajax's death on Facebook, Yahoo! Australia's The Music Hype reported.

"Absolutely heart breaking news about one of our long time former resident Dj's AJAX," reads a message posted to the club's Facebook on Thursday. "Ajax was resident at Chinese Laundry for over 7 years and was a great friend to everyone here & an amazing DJ that was always a crowd favourite[.] You will be sorely missed by everyone who knew you and everyone at Chinese Laundry[.] RIP Buddy[.]"

Ajax was a founding member of the Bang Gang Crew and co-founder of the record label Sweat It Out. The label's biggest success was 2010's worldwide dance hit “We No Speak Americano," by Yolanda B Cool & DCup, according to Billboard. He is credited with bringing electronic dance music (EDM) to the mainstream in Australia.

Sweat It Out released a statement on Ajax's death to the Sydney Morning Herald.

"We are devastated and heartbroken to have lost Adrian and our thoughts are with his family and many, many friends who share our grief at this time," the statement read in part. "He was a hugely talented individual and was highly respected by the local and international dance music community as a pioneer and innovator. Adrian touched so many people and it is impossible to sum up his legacy in words."

An outpouring of support has come from the EDM community following Ajax's tragic passing. He was voted Australia's Top DJ twice by Technics in the Mix, Spinner notes.

News : George Strait Being Honored By Country Radio Hall of Fame

News : George Strait Being Honored By Country Radio Hall of Fame

George Strait is retiring from active touring after his Cowboy Rides Away tour this year, but he will still make music. He just won't hit the road to support it, which he has done his whole life. He is just retiring from full on tours; he will still do music and perform live here and there. But even if he didn't, he has had quite the career. So that is why the country superstar will be honored at the Country Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremony on February 26.

The singer will be presented with the Country Radio Broadcasters' 2013 Career Achievement Award during the event, which will take place in Nashville, the county seat of country music. Which means it's the "country" seat, right!

Mike Culotta, President of the Country Radio Seminar, said, "George Strait has done a superb job promoting country music and country radio over the years. His dedication to the format and on-going contribution to the industry as a whole make him the perfect recipient for (sic) this award."

Previous recipients of the award include Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire.

Congrats to George Strait.

News : Baby Bruno Mars Is Even Cuter Than You Imagined

News : Baby Bruno Mars Is Even Cuter Than You Imagined

A very small number of performers have the true ‘it’ factor. Their confidence and ease on stage leaves the audience feeling like they’re watching someone who has been performing all their lives. Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Bruno Mars are artists that I would lump together in this small group. Today, the internet has given us a gift in the form of a 23 year-old interview with a then four year-old Bruno Mars, showing that yes, to look like you’ve been performing all your life, you usually have been.

Growing up in Hawaii, Mars was recruited at a young age by his uncle, an Elvis impersonator, to begin performing with the family band The Love Notes. Already going by his nickname and later stage name, Bruno (real name Peter Hernandez) caught the eye of comedian Pauly Shore. To reiterate, Pauly Shore. I know. The internet is weird.

In this clip, Shore gets some tips on dancing like Elvis and Michael Jackson from the talented Mars, who apparently has been rocking a pompadour since childhood. Sorry Bieber, your swag crown has been snatched by four year-old Bruno Mars.

Check out baby Bruno Mars and good luck finding some cat video today that is cuter than this.

News : J. Cole Lost Two Of His Favorite Beats To Nas, Rick Ross

News : J. Cole Lost Two Of His Favorite Beats To Nas, Rick Ross

Nas' 10th LP Life Is Good is an engaging listen from start to finish, but for J. Cole, there's one particular track on the Grammy-nominated album he just can't bear to play. That would be "Stay," the beat for which he desperately wanted for his debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story.

Earlier this month, the Roc Nation rapper shared five unreleased tracks on his Truly Yours EP, and one of them was his version of "Stay," originally recorded in 2009 during a session with No I.D.

Cole told MTV News that No I.D. was the first producer he ever got in the studio with, during what he called a "life-changing experience," just six months after signing his record deal with Jay-Z.

"We did the most incredible songs in one week. We did 'Not Too Late,' 'Stay,' 'Never Told' and a few more joints that haven't even come out yet," he explained. " 'Stay' was towards the end of the process — he just looped up this sample, and while he's looping up the sample, I'm writing the words, and before you know it, I have the song.

" 'Stay' was my favorite song that was absolutely going on my first album, but I guess I'll just chalk it up to my inexperience in the game," Cole added.

Cole, still new to industry, didn't realize that he had no claims to the beat until he actually paid for it. And by the time he'd made a decision, it was too late. "As time goes on, I'm not solidifying it, which basically means I'm not locking down the beat from No I.D. Long story short, I didn't buy that beat from No I.D., and Nas bought that beat," he said, clearly still remorseful. "He didn't even know I did a joint on it either. I don't even know if he knows, but I had that sh-- first."

When Cole finally reached out to No I.D for "Stay," he got this response: "Yo, Nas got that beat."

"That taught me a lesson real quick: If you want a record, you have to put some money down on it," he said. "Honestly, I heard Nas' joint one time, and I can't listen again. It's hard for me. It's rightfully his record, he put it out first, and he killed it too, but I can't listen."

Getting burned twice will really make that lesson stick, and he learned once again with a song that later appeared on Ross' Teflon Don album. "The same thing happened with 'Tears of Joy.' I smacked myself. That's two classics that was supposed to be mine," he said. "But 'Tears of Joy,' I couldn't have did what Ross did on that, because [I] was in a bad place. Me and No I.D. was in the studio, but the label was on me about some hits, so it was a bad session. I squeezed out a verse on 'Tears of Joy,' but I was not in a good place to do anything close to what Ross did on that. But I still smack myself about those."

News : Emmett Till's Family Addresses Lil Wayne In Writing

News : Emmett Till's Family Addresses Lil Wayne In Writing

On the unofficial release of Future's "Karate Chop(remix)," Lil Wayne pushed the envelope too far, drawing waves of criticism for a controversial reference to Emmett Till. The provocative verse almost immediately got a response from Till's cousin Airickca Gordon-Taylor, who even penned an open letter to Weezy this week, airing out her concerns.

In the letter via VIBE she wrote, “When you spit lyrics like, 'Beat that p----y up like Emmett Till,' not only are you destroying the preservation and legacy of Emmett Till’s memory and name, but the impact of his murder in black history along with degradation of women.” She continued on, appealing to Lil’ Wayne not as a celebrity, but as a father himself saying, “ How would you feel if your child was beaten beyond recognition, body mutilated and disfigured, tortured for hours, unnecessarily shot after being BEATEN TO DEATH...”

However, Ms. Gordon-Taylor concluded her letter on an uplifting note adding, “Together we can ignite a modern day movement. You would be a great asset to the struggle.” As she told the Chicago Sun-Times on Wednesday, it is neither her nor the foundation’s desire to villainize or defame the New Orleans born rapper. We just want Emmett's name removed from that song,” she said.

Though Weezy has yet to comment on the controversy, Future spoke out on his behalf. Friday night, he told MTV News, "The record it was done from a good place, good art, he ain't have no bad intentions when he was thinking about it like that. It was used in a different way, but I understand it," he said. "So at the end of the day we're gonna move on from it and find a way to build."

News : Lady Gaga Has Hip Surgery, Calls Injury "Bump In The Road"

Lady Gaga said she has undergone surgery to repair an injured hip that forced the pop singer last week to cancel the remainder of her concert tour.

The "Born This Way" singer thanked fans in a blog post on her littlemonsters.com fan website on Thursday, saying the setback was "just a bump in the road."

"As they wheeled me into surgery...I thought about all of your pain and perseverance, your unique family situations, school environments, health issues, homelessness, identity struggles," wrote Lady Gaga, who often engages with her fans about their personal problems.

"So I thought to myself, 'I'm alive; I'm living my dream, and this is just a bump in the road,'" she added.

The 26-year-old singer tweeted on Wednesday that she was heading into surgery to treat a labral tear of her right hip.

No timetable has been set for Lady Gaga to return to performing, and her tour operator said last week that she would need "strict downtime."

Lady Gaga has been on the road for two years, performing concerts on six continents.

The injury forced her to cancel some two dozen concerts in the United States as part of her "Born This Way Ball" tour.

News : Chris Brown and Rihanna: Let's Move On

News : Chris Brown and Rihanna: Let's Move On

Not far into Sunday’s Grammy telecast there was a pivotal shot. During one of those predictable tight pans of celebrities in attendance, the camera found Rihanna. She looked radiant in her red gown and flowing tresses as she smiled widely for the camera.

Despite how tight the frame was, it was impossible not to notice Chris Brown seated next to her.

Backstage a few reporters groaned whenever the camera captured the two cuddled together and smiling widely, and their seating arrangement provided plenty of fodder, both good and bad, on social media networks.

As the night went on, Rihanna, who won a Grammy for her “We Found Love” video earlier in the day, took the stage (twice) and Brown lost out to the guy he allegedly jumped in a parking lot a couple of weeks ago.

But that’s not what mattered, and the two exhaustingly provocative R&B-pop singers are smart enough to know this. By sitting together they made a very simple statement: We've moved on.

Unless you’ve been in exile these last four years, you’re fully aware of Rihanna and Brown’s tumultuous relationship with the Grammys.

Both bowed out of attending the 2009 ceremony after a late-night car ride changed everything between the young lovebirds -- and how we viewed them. We’ve all seen the photo of Rihanna’s bruised and battered face, which came at Brown's hands. We’ve read the police report, scrutinized the interviews, decoded the music created in the incident's aftermath and formed (very strong) opinions.

The sordid details of that night have driven the collective obsession with Brown and Rihanna since then, and the interest has intensified as the two have gravitated toward each other over the last year, courting controversy here and there along the way.

At last year’s telecast, Brown drew plenty of ire when he performed and took home his first Grammy. Rihanna was there, too, but she did her thing separately -- and the cameras never panned to the other for reaction shots.

Not long after, they issued a pair of musical collaborations, but those post-Grammy remixes were just the beginning of Brown and Rihanna letting us now they were still in each other's lives, and a firestorm of outcry seemed to follow their every move.

Of the countless headlines connected to the pair within the last year -- her appearance on “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” his bizarre rhetoric of loving two women (he dumped flame Karrueche Tran over his “friendship” with Rihanna) or oversharing on Instagram -- what’s become clear is they no longer care about public opinion. As if to underscore the point, the pair cut another duet in 2012, "Nobody's Business."

Still people cringe when the two sit courtside at a Lakers game or go clubbing in Hollywood. They’ve been labeled the next Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, especially after Rihanna supported him by appearing in court last week for his probation progress report.

Sure, that 2009 incident will follow Brown for the rest of his life. And he has made it especially hard to look away now that he has amassed a ridiculously embarrassing list of public misbehavior, including allegations that he failed to complete his community service sentence, which was handed down as a result of his assault on Rihanna.

But Rihanna has moved on. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, when asked about reconciling with Brown, she told the magazine that she decided it was important to be happy.

"I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that," she said. "Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it."

The public might not ever forget what happened, and that's OK. But by sitting together at the very ceremony that framed an evening that altered every perception surrounding the couple, they've shown us what their brand of forgiveness looks like.

And if anyone doesn't like it? Well, Brown and Rihanna have written a few songs in response.

News : Madonna Crowned Top Music Earner In 2012 Due To World Tour

News : Madonna Crowned Top Music Earner In 2012 Due To World Tour

Madonna was named the biggest money maker in music in 2012 on Friday, with a world tour helping her take home up to $34.6 million and highlighting the earning power of live performances as the industry increasingly goes digital.

The 54-year-old Material Girl topped Billboard Magazine's annual list of 40 top money makers for the second time after earning an estimated $32 million - 93.5 percent of her revenue - from her 88-date "MDNA" tour, 2012's biggest tour.

Madonna, who also led the list in 2008 due to tour income, was the only woman in the top 10 with last year's winner, Taylor Swift, who fell to 15th place as she did not tour in 2012.

In second place in the music magazine's list was Bruce Springsteen whose $33.4 million revenue was also primarily driven by touring, playing to sold-out stadiums and arenas.

Springsteen, who also released a No. 1 album, "Wrecking Ball," last year, earned 92 percent of his revenue from live shows where strong merchandise sales also boosted takings.

Roger Waters, founder of Pink Floyd, came a distant third with earnings of $21 million largely from "The Wall Live" tour and Van Halen was fourth with $20 million after touring in support of their album "A Different Kind of Truth".

"When it comes to making the biggest score, the most money always comes from high-paying live performances," Billboard's editorial analyst Glenn Peoples wrote in explaining the list.

"Ironically, the most popular touring artists are usually well past their peaks on the album sales charts."

Country music veteran Kenny Chesney, the Dave Matthews Band, country's Tim McGraw and Jason Aldean, and British band Coldplay came next on the list.

Canadian teen sensation Justin Bieber was 10th, earning almost $16 million of which about $10 million came from his sold-out "Believe" arena tour.

"The entire top 10 averaged 84.2 percent of their income from concerts, and the number would have been higher, if not for Justin Bieber's mere 60.1 percent share at No. 10 dragging down the average," said Billboard.

However touring was not vital for every act on the list such as Swift and Britain's Adele.

Swift earned $12.7 million after selling the most digital tracks in 2012. She sold more than 3 million digital albums and 15.6 million digital tracks driven by her hit "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together".

Adele took the year out after having a baby but still earned nearly $14 million, putting her 11th in the rankings, due to continuing strong physical and digital sales for her album "21".

Maroon 5, ranked 33rd in the list, took the highest share of streaming revenue which made 3.5 percent of its $7.2 million.

Billboard said streaming music online to paying customers has not caught on with older generations and was small in percentage terms but growing.

"Yet even in the coming years, as streaming services become a more important revenue source, possibly replacing digital downloads and CD sales, one thing is unlikely to change: concerts will have the greatest influence of top earners' overall earnings," said Peoples.

The list was compiled by Billboard editors using data for Boxscore archives of U.S. concert gross figures, Nielsen SoundScan data for sales, YouTube, and Nielsen BDS data.

News : Rihanna Intruder Arrested After Trying To Break Into Her House

News : Rihanna Intruder Arrested After Trying To Break Into Her House

This is seriously scary. A man was arrested attempting (and failing) to break into Rihanna‘s home in Los Angeles last night (Feb. 21).

According to TMZ, police said the intruder was given directions to RiRi’s house, but entered the house next door to the pop stars by accident. The intruder was snooping around the property of a neighbor when he caught the attention of some other residents. The man was confronted by some of the neighbors who then detained him and called police when they fully accessed the situation. Wow, is that how citizens arrests go down? We’re glad the watchful eyes of Good Samaritans helped to stop this guy before he could steal any property or even harm someone. You know what they say, if you see something, say something!

Rihanna recently purchased this property for $12 million in December. The mansion is 11,000 square feet and boasts seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms (that’s a bathroom every 1200 square feet).

Okay, RiRi, we hope you had video cameras, but if you didn’t before, you will now!

News : Is Taylor Swift's New Musical Bestie Tom Odell?

News : Is Taylor Swift's New Musical Bestie Tom Odell?

First, there was Ed Sheeran. Then, there was Lawson. And now, Taylor Swift seems to have found another musical comrade in British singer/songwriter Tom Odell.

Swift and the 22-year-old, who drops his album Long Way Down in April, were spotted hanging out together on Thursday, one day after she took the stage at the Brit Awards and he took home the prize for Critics' Choice. According to E! News, the friends were spotted leaving the members-only Groucho Club in Soho.

They were first photographed together on Wednesday night backstage at the splashy awards show, chatting, according to Heat World. Later that night, Swift got her party on with Frank Ocean, Carey Mulligan, Marcus Mumford and Ellie Goulding.

No word on if this is the first time that Swift and Odell have hung out with one another, but back in January, Swift declared herself a "super fan" of the British singer on Twitter after he covered her track, "I Knew You Were Trouble" for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge. He slowed down the tune and put a rather folkie spin on it. She wrote, "Now I'm just floored. This is so good."

Swift seems to be somewhat of an Anglophile when it comes to her taste in music. She's been pretty candid about her love for tunes by Sheeran and Lawson. In fact, her fandom for Sheeran has turned into quite a musical partnership. Not only does he appear on her Red track, "Everything Has Changed," but he will also be opening for her on her tour, which kicks off next month.

"Taylor writes songs in all different situations," Sheeran recalled to MTV News about working with his pal. "I remember we went out. Where did we go? I think we were in the car to the studio and she took her phone out and mumbled something and sort of put it back. And I was like 'What was that?' and she was like 'Oh, I was just singing down ideas.' She does that all the time."

As for the guys in Lawson, she was photographed with them last December, and has declared their track, "Standing In The Dark," one of her favorites. Bassist Ryan Fletcher said of her affection for the Chapman Square track, "It's great having Taylor behind us, isn't it?"
