Cafeteria Review By Jessica L.: Evanston, IL
"I've been wanting to go here ever since I passed by a few months ago. The first great thing about the place is that it's 24 hours! That's always a plus in the city.

Came here for lunch at around 1pm and even though the spot was packed, we didn't have to wait for a party of 4. We were seated inside, but the openness of the restaurant felt really great. One thing that was a bit annoying was that it was really loud. The combination of loud music and lots if people made it difficult to talk to one another. I wouldn't have minded it if it was dinner, but for lunch, it was a bit too loud.

Food:
Smoked salmon eggs Benedict
Smoked Gouda and bacon Mac and cheese

The smoked salmon eggs Benedict was very unique. The poached egg, and salmon is not very special, but instead of the am English muffin, it's placed on top of potato pancakes which were more like crab cakes. Very soft and so much easier to eat than tough english muffins! Delicious. The light vinegar salad on the side was great as well.

Smoked Gouda and bacon Mac and cheese was very creamy and delicious. The Gouda cheese was not overwhelming at all. I wish they mixed in the bacon into the Mac and cheese instead of just sprinkling some on top, but regardless the crunchy salty bacon complimented it very well.

I also tasted my friends lemon ricotta pancakes and wow. That was delicious. I'm not a fan of syrup so I like pancakes with a lot of flavor, and this lemon pancake was citrusy and NOT too sweet so it was great! The blueberries on top worked really well with the citrus of the pancakes. Yum.

All in all, good fun atmosphere, lots of younger people (20s - 30s), friendly service and good food. I would definitely want to come here at like 3am one say just to see how the 24/7 thing works!"

Videos : DJ Khaled ft. Meek Mill, Rick Ross, T.I., Swizz Beatz : I Feel Like Pac / I Feel Like Biggie

DJ Khaled recently released his seventh studio album titled Suffering From Success. While the LP features a number of hip-hop heavyweights, reports show that the album moved 19-24 thousand copies in the first week -- a relatively low number compared to his last album Kiss The Ring which racked up 41 thousand sales in the first week. To battle the negative sales projections, Khaled releases the visuals to "I Feel Like Pac, I Feel Like Biggie." The bass-heavy number features some of the game's most prolific, with Diddy, Meek Mill, Rick Ross, T.I. and Swizz Beatz all jumping in sharing a verse. Shot in striking black-and-white, the visuals contain archive footage of Biggie Smalls and 2Pac edited with the the artists rapping. Enjoy the clip above and head over to iTunes to purchase Suffering From Success.

News : Rock Legend Lou Reed Dies At 71

News : Rock Legend Lou Reed Dies At 71

Lou Reed, who took rock 'n' roll into dark corners as a songwriter, vocalist and guitarist for the Velvet Underground and as a solo artist, died Sunday, his publicist said. He was 71.

The publicist, Peter Noble, confirmed Reed's death but released no details. Reed had undergone a liver transplant in May, his wife, the musician/performance artist Laurie Anderson, disclosed over the summer.

Reed was a rock pioneer who went from record label songwriter to a member of the short-lived but innovative and influential Velvet Underground. The band and Reed's solo work tackled taboo topics like drug addiction, paranoia and sexual deviancy in songs that were largely spare, muscular and often saturated in feedback.

"Lou Reed's influence is one that there are really only a tiny handful of other figures who you can compare to him," said Simon Vozick-Levinson, a senior editor at Rolling Stone.

"He spoke incredibly frankly about the realities of being an artist, being a person who lived life on one's own terms. He didn't prettify things. He didn't sugarcoat things. He showed life as it really is and that's something that made him a true original, and one of our great all-time artists," he said.

Reed, violist/keyboard player John Cale, guitarist Sterling Morrison and drummer Maureen Tucker played their first show as the Velvet Underground in 1965 and soon drew the attention of pop artist Andy Warhol, who became their manager. Rock mythology has it that even though the group sold few albums, everyone who bought one started a band.

"We had fans who made us realize it was worth it," Tucker told CNN. "But when we were together, actively, we didn't have a big splash like the Doors or whatever."

Nevertheless, Rolling Stone ranks the group's debut album, "The Velvet Underground and Nico," as the 13th greatest of all time. Tunes like "Sweet Jane," from the group's 1970 album "Loaded," have become rock standards. Performers from David Bowie to R.E.M. and U2 have cited them as inspiration, and the Velvet Underground was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

"The world has lost a fine songwriter and poet. I've lost my 'school-yard buddy,' " Cale wrote on Twitter.

Tucker called Reed "generous, encouraging and thoughtful." Working with him "sometimes could be trying" to some people, but "never to me."

"I guess we learned from each other. We all learned from each other," she said.

In 1970, Reed left the Velvets for a long solo career. He had his only Top 40 hit with "Walk on the Wild Side," from the Bowie-produced 1972 album "Transformer," and Rolling Stone put both that album and 1973's "Berlin" on its top 500 list.

Reed "was one of the first artists to experiment with guitar feedback on record and to show that sort of ugly noise can actually be quite beautiful and moving. He also, lyrically, wrote about all kinds of topics that were taboo before he started exploring them," said Vozick-Levinson.

He also gave a voice to gay and transgender people in a way that had never been done before by a popular artist, which made his work incredibly important to many people, Vozick-Levinson said.

In 1982, Reed told The New York Times that his goal wasn't just to make music, but create literature.

"People say rock 'n' roll is constricting, but you can do anything you want, any way you want,'' he said. "And my goal has been to make an album that would speak to people the way Shakespeare speaks to me, the way Joyce speaks to me. Something with that kind of power; something with bite to it."

And Tucker said Reed "influenced probably millions of people into maybe reading more, into playing music."

"When I have been on tour, there have been kids from 15 years old to 60 years old commenting on how they were influenced by Lou and the Velvets," she said.

The rock band the Pixies wrote on their Twitter page, "R.I.P. LOU REED....A LEGEND." Iggy Pop wrote simply: "Devastating news."

Reed won a Grammy award in 1998 for best long-form music video, for a documentary on his career up to that point. Neil Portnow, president and CEO of The Recording Academy, called him "an exceptionally gifted singer, songwriter, and musician who has had a profound impact on rock music and our culture,"

"We have lost a true visionary and creative leader, and his groundbreaking work will forever hold its rightful place in music history," Portnow said.

Audio : Lady Gaga : Venus

Lady Gaga has teased her new song “Venus” for a few weeks, by urging fans to get it trending on Twitter, revealing some of its lyrics and unveiling snippets previewing just one of four (!) hooks. In comparison to her campaign, “Venus” doesn’t waste a single moment dealing with subtlety or nuances of any kind.

“Venus” swings like a pendulum from one emotional extreme to another, from its deadpan hashtag rap (“Aphrodite lady, seashell bikini / garden panty / #VENUS”) to its glittering dance balladry (“I can’t help the way I’m feeling / goddess of love, just take me to your Venus”). In another “hook,” she belts out demands to be abducted in true sci-fi (or, well, Newsboys) style: “Take me to your planet, take me to your planet, take me to your Venus, your Venus, your Venus.”

Oh, and she actually sings this: “Uranus / don’t you know my ass is famous?”

“Venus” is out on iTunes on October 28. For now, hear its VEVO stream after the jump.

Videos : Dj Khaled ft. Scarface, Jadakiss, Meek Mill, Akon, John Legend : Never Surrender

DJ Khaled is hip-hop's social butterfly; just check out the tracklist for his latest LP Suffering From Success. One of the biggest posse cuts on the LP is Track 12, “Never Surrender,” featuring the unlikely mix of Scarface, Akon, Anthony Hamilton, Jadakiss, John Legend and Meek Mill. Somehow, DJ Khaled, being the guy that he is, managed to get the motley bunch together for a seven-minute video that feels like a mini-Training Day saga. Snitches, arrests, hustlin', unnecessary shooting, murder weapons -- it's all there. Even Rick Ross and French Montana make cameos, because the more the f*cking merrier.

Masquerade Review By Song K.: New Orleans, LA
"I finally got to check out Masquerade after hearing some enthusiastic recommendations from both New Orleans natives and first-time visitors. "It's quite a happening place past midnight." Still, I had some reservations given that this was in the middle of a casino and would attract.. well, middle-aged gamblers reeking of cigarette smoke.

Surprisingly enough, I quite liked Masquerade.

It's a cheap version of Las vegas, no doubt, with tacky, tasteless decor and Go-go dancers. Nevertheless the music was BUMPIN' (consisting mostly of Top 40 hip hop) and there was AMPLE room for dancing without unpleasant physical contacts with strangers (unless you're into that kind of thing...). With high ceilings and spacious gambling area surrounding the dance floor, I could have fun without feeling clausterophobic. It's the first time I left a club after 3+ hours spent there without feeling sweaty and gross.

Security personnel patrol the casino area so, say whatever you may about the crowd, it's safe and fun if you're in a good company of people. And if your stomach is rumbling after a hard night of partying, you can buy Fuddruckers burgers, hot dogs, and even Starbucks through the wee hours of the night without having to leave the casino.

Taken altogether, I quite liked the venue. so much so that I commented to my friends that our school should host a party here. But sorry, it would be a private event."
