Mike Tucker is a 21-year-old producer and video game design student based in Vancouver who makes sensual, fun dance music as Blood Diamonds. He's 6'9" ("I'm about the size of a fridge," he jokes), sports a faux-Morrissey mop, and on his recent track "Heart", he mixed a digital marimba with a chopped-up Temptations vocal sample. After a stint as a party DJ in his hometown of Kansas City, Tucker got bored and decided to learn how to use production tools. A collaboration with Cody Critcheloe from Ssion helped him figure out how to produce and, more importantly, how to write music. They worked together in Tucker's parents' basement for a month straight, and shortly afterwards, he moved to Vancouver and recorded a demo. Now, after releasing a handful of songs where his only vocals were buried in effects, he's planning on putting out an EP on The Pop Manifesto later this year where his singing will feature more prominently.
