Who Is Bridget Kelly?
When asked what she would like her audience to take away from her music, Bridget Kelly confidently states, "I hope to touch someone's life through my writing or my voice, even if it's just one person. I've always found music to be the most effective means for people to relate to one another. I sing about things women think and feel but don’t always say because they’re afraid of being judged. I want be that voice for women by saying what I really feel.”

With her debut single, “Special Delivery,” Bridget does just that, delivering honest, heartfelt lyrics, over powerful vocals, singing about the struggle of coming to a crossroads in a relationship and the difficult decision of ending it and moving on. The video, directed by Sarah Mccolgan and shot in Brooklyn, NY follows Bridget as she takes the viewer on a physical journey as she drives from her apartment to the beach, while simultaneously contemplating whether to deliver her “goodbye” letter.

“Special Delivery” premiered on New York City’s Power 105.1FM and was featured on RyanSeacrest.com. The power vocalist and songwriter has captured the attention of tastemakers and media alike, with PerezHilton.com exalting her song “Seek & Destroy” off her EP, Every Girl, stating, “This right here is our new anthem! Bridget Kelly has tapped into a lyrical honesty…that is instantly recognizable…we LOVE!”

She is also a Grammy-award winning songwriter, penning the song “Einstein” from Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger album, which won Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Bridget honed her performance skills early in her career, having toured with JAY Z (Blueprint 3 Tour), Estelle (BET Music Matters Tour), and performing at this year’s Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. She has been featured in top publications such as Complex, VIBE, Entertainment Weekly, The Source, and the covers of Honey and EDGE magazines. However her early successes haven’t gone to her head. Over the past few years she says she has valued the importance of remaining humble and being patient.

When she began to record her album, she initially thought she would veer towards an alternative vibe, but soon realized that it didn’t quite fit. “In order to make it feel right, I went back to my soulful sound. It told my story more accurately,” she recalls. After working with such writers and producers as Cri$tyle and Jerry “Wonda” Duplesis, who she cites as her most recent influences, she says, “they brought something out in me that I didn’t initially want to talk about, and really brought my projects full circle.” On what fans can expect from her album, she states, “I speak a lot about love, and about my feelings on it. I’m not interested in male bashing. I speak to those who have been in relationships, the good and the bad, and that in the midst of turmoil, finding something you can smile about.”

Born and raised in the neighborhood of Chelsea in New York City, Bridget Kelly grew up in a household where Motown, Jazz and Pop songs were always playing, sparking her love affair with music at a very early age. "When I was about 3-years-old, I would watch movies with my parents, and The Sound of Music was the first time I really discovered music. I remember the following Christmas, I got up on a chair and sang Christmas carols at the top of my lungs," she recalls. Bridget attended the prestigious LaGuardia High School for Performing Arts in New York City, which was also a major influence in her decision to pursue a career in music.

By 2008, BK was more than ready to take her career to the next level, writing songs on her Blackberry every day and performing regularly at open mic shows in clubs around downtown NYC and a subway platform in Union Square. It was later that same year that BK’s tenacity paid off – she was signed to her first major recording and publishing deal with Roc Nation. As the saying goes “timing is everything,” and BK’s time has certainly come.
