Throwback Video : Fat Joe : What's Luv?

Throwback Video : Fat Joe : What's Luv?

"What’s Luv?" is a 2001 hip hop song by American rapper Fat Joe, released as the second single from his fourth studio album Jealous Ones Still Envy (J.O.S.E.). The song features additional vocals from singer Ashanti, and also from rapper Ja Rule on the album version on the song. The single peaked at #4 in the United Kingdom and at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, staying on the chart for twenty weeks. It was Ashanti's second top ten single, Fat Joe's first and Ja Rule's seventh. The single helped make Ashanti the first female artist to simultaneously occupy the top two positions on the Hot 100.

News : Kendrick Reignites Drake Beef

News : Kendrick Reignites Drake Beef

It looks like Kendrick Lamar might've reinvigorated his feud with Drake during a guest verse on Jay Rock's "Pay For It." The "i" rapper fired the first shot last summer in his controversial verse on Big Sean's "Control," calling out Drake (and pretty much the rest of the rap game), and kept things going at that year's BET Hip-Hop Awards. For his part, Drake responded in an interview at New York University by subtly dissing Lamar, saying "when it comes to competition, I'm more worried about consistency, about bodies of work."

Though things cooled down afterwards, K-Dot's "Pay For It" verse seems to indicate renewed hostilities. "Been dissecting your motormouth until I break down the engine," he raps, a reference to Drake's name for himself in "The Language." "See my opponent then, cease your existence / Endin' our friendship, baby, I'd rather die alone," he continues. Harsh words.

Earlier this month Young Money's resident shit-stirrer, Tyga, revealed that he doesn't "like Drake as a person," so yeah, it's been a rough month for Drizzy.

Listen To : Ace Hood : We Don't

At the top of this year, Ace Hood released his mixtape, Starvation 3, but since then he remained rather quiet as far as solo music goes. That all changes today though, as Ace returns with his new single, "We Don't," featuring Rich Homie Quan. Ace and Quan are as honest as ever on this release, explaining exactly why they don't mess with certain people.

No word yet if this club-ready single will be featured on a new project from Ace, but seeing that he is one of the hardest working artists in the game, we wouldn't be surprised. Listen to the new single above.

Bars : USA : WA : Seattle : Rob Roy

About Rob Roy
A Rob Roy is a version of a Manhattan made with Scotch. Rob Roy (1671–1734), the cocktail's namesake, was an outlaw-hero, the Scottish version of Robin Hood. The Rob Roy is a swankish '70s cocktail lounge in Belltown—the kind with stacked flagstone behind the bar, a black-leather-padded wall, low lighting, and general comfiness. Furthermore, it's run by the awesome Anu Apte (of the Washington State Bartenders Guild), and the cocktails are marvelous.

Rob Roy Review By Jacob M. : Seattle, WA
This is by far my favorite bar/lounge I've been too in Seattle.  Its probably one of my favorite in the country.  The setting is perfect for sitting and talking to your friends for hours.  The interior is perfect for any occasion whether its getting off work or taking a date out.  Music is always fitting and the staff is dressed nice(no uniforms), but not pretentious.  The reason to come here though are the drinks themselves.

The old fashion starts by selecting one of their many bourbons.  One time I got a special blend that was a small batch(upped the price a bit, but worth it).  The bartender puts a glove on, pulls out a block of ice, and saws off a single large piece that he then whittles down with a knife till it fits in your glass.  They mix the cane sugar, bourbon, orange bitters and pour it over the ice.  Topped off with real candied cherries and a zest of orange that is squeezed around the edge of the glass (the smell enhances the drink more then you'd think).

The other cocktails are great, but the old fashion is perfect.

Gear : Jackets : Interacket Jacket

Norwegian design studio Drap og Design presents the Interacket jacket, which lights up in the color of whatever you touch. Adding to the growth of wearable tech, the garment is inspired by the color-morphing ability of chameleons and squids, and is constructed from an inner layer of the kind of reflective foil found on emergency heating blankets and lined with red, green and blue LEDs, under a simple painter’s suit which functions as the outer layer. The electronics consist of two Arduino chips and a color sensor. Although it would not be very effective as camouflage, potential applications could include safety clothing for nighttime activities such as biking.

Albums : Logic : Under Pressure

Listen To : Logic : Under Pressure

Logic, a rapper we have been featuring, sponsoring, premiering, and generally loving for the past few years, has released his debut album today. From his first mixtape, through his rise that has lead to today's release our admiration has only grown. We started by sponsoring his breakout mixtape Young Sinatra, followed up by both the Young Sinatra: Undeniable and Young Sinatra: Welcome To Forever mixtapes all supported up by matching sold out tours. Next, we broke the news of his major label signing with the iconic Def Jam Recordings, which was followed by the acclaimed While You Wait EP to keeping everyone happy with new material.

This has all paved the way for today's debut full-length studio album Under Pressure. Production on the album spans from 6ix, DJ Dahi, Dun Deal, M-Phazes, Rob Knox, S1,Tae Beast, to Logic himself. The entire album is executively produced by hip-hop icon No-ID who is known for his work with Kanye West and Jay-Z among countless others.

Thanks to his amazing team, Visionary Music Group, the entire full length deluxe version of the album is now available to stream in full via Soundcloud. The deluxe version spans 15 tracks, featuring verses solely from Logic (aside from two "Alright" ft. Big Sean and "Driving Ms. Daisy" ft. Childish Gambino). The album is an unbelievable listen from beginning to end and is without a doubt his best work to date. The tracks range from the signature relentless verses to the lyricist exploring new territories including singing on tracks like "Buried Alive". We strongly encourage you to pick up your copy of either the regular or deluxe version as both are available physically and everywhere online.

Vin Room Review By Janna L. : Calgary, AB Canada
Easy to get to on 4th and easy to find parking in Mission on the nearby streets.

I had not been here before but anything that serves Tapas - I am in, a nosher I am!!!! Good suggestion by my dining partner as usually he wants me to initiate where we go!

Walked in - lack of hostess at the stand for a few min - not good - hate standing there at the front when people are seated and eating, trying to relax. 2 hostesses came then at the same time, menus were grabbed and up to a 2nd level we went! This place is like a renovated house that must have cost a fortune to open up into what it has become. The interior is clean and well decorated, just stunning - chandeliers, jaw dropping!

The second level has a very dark, fancy "vampirey" (as described to me but I agree somewhat) feel to it. It could have used some splashes of red maybe on the walls but it was a really cool room. The music was Depeche Mode style throughout the whole dinner. I could take or leave that.

Our server Christian was a doll. A fellow foodie he was and he had no problem telling us our 3 tapas choices were his absolute faves and he talked about his favourite wines as well. Even brought us a light sample of red zin to try on the house. Classy.

We ordered
1 - Lobster tacos (thanks to some reviews on here (*thanks guys and dolls*) and they did not disappoint. FRESH tortilla chips and yummy hot sauce on top)
2 - Lamb Skewers (to die for, we forget to cook lamb at home these days and I miss it - melt in your mouth lamb on a bed of cooked spinach in a curry like sauce)
3 - Seared Scallops (OMG! Ony get 2 on the plate but the broth it comes with is MMMMM - great seasoning on everything and the scallops were cooked to perfection!)

We also ordered some bread and smoked butter ($3) and 2 glasses of Malbec ($10 each, not bad)
We also ordered a dessert! A chocolate torte, not on the menu - sooo good. All desserts with the exception of the gelato are made in house! All desserts $9.

Service was good, friendly as mentioned but slow at times getting food and dessert out. The upstairs was busy so I am not sure if Christian was slow due to the kitchen but...  the food was so carefully prepped and delicious, it was worth the wait.

The restaurant focuses on LOCAL goods and SEASONAL dishes.

$71.40 before tip and this was was incredible value in my opinion for what we got including wine!

Thanks Vin, I left a Happy Cat and we will be back!

Gear : Watches : Omate Lutetia

Gear : Watches : Omate Lutetia

It’s a discussion we’ve had time and time again here at shinyshiny HQ: Are the recent wearable releases REALLY designed with women in mind? The square faces, huge chunky straps and dull designs would suggest no. Well, meet the Lutetia. Designed by women and for women, this shiny gadget aims to be the ultimate smartwatch for the early-adopting female market. But will it just be a bit too style over substance?

Take a look at the fancy-named Lutetia in all its glory above. According to Engadget, the device is produced by Omate and comes in three colours (rose gold, gold and silver) in stainless steel with a slinky beaded effect strap. Like the brand’s Omate X, the new wearable is powered by MediaTek’s Aster MT2502 platform, which means it can be paired with both Android and iOS devices and its battery will last a whole week.

If you’re a bit sick of every other tech publication solely focusing on how this new smartwatch looks (*puts hand up hurriedly*), then you might be a bit disappointed to find out Lutetia isn’t a standalone device, but then again few smart watches on the market are. Having said that, the Lutetia will notify you of everything going on on your phone, as well as housing a built-in pedometer, stopwatch, timer and a range of voice control features.

We’ll have to review the Lutetia ourselves here at shinyshiny before we can make any judgements about whether it truly is a capable smartwatch and whether it truly appeals to women. But right now I must admit I’m a little torn. It’s great to see the female market being properly considered by a smartwatch brand, but the style just seems a little too OTT, as if loads of dudes have been asked what kind of thing women like ‘ermmm… beady things and ermmm… gold, right’ when really we all play sport, want a durable device and need something that fits all scenarios – just like men do.

News : Apple To Roll Beats Music Into iTunes

News : Apple To Roll Beats Music Into iTunes

Last month I reported that Apple would shut down Beats Music and likely add streaming music to iTunes. Apple denied, specifically, that Beats Music would be shut down.

Shortly thereafter, ‘unnamed sources familiar with the matter’ conveniently surfaced to engage in a battle of semantics about whether Apple might modify Beats Music over time, including its brand.

As we noted at the time, that was another way of saying Beats Music would get rolled into iTunes. And that’s just what the Wall Street Journal, (I’m sure they just forgot to cite us) is reporting today. “Apple is rebuilding Beats Music and plans to relaunch it next year as part of iTunes, according to a person familiar with the matter.”

Yep.

As I reported before the Beats acquisition became official, iTunes executives wanted to acquire Beats Music because they knew that music download sales were plummeting, and it needed a way to gracefully transition into streaming. And lo and behold, the WSJ writes “Digital music sales at Apple Inc. ’s iTunes store have fallen 13% to 14% world-wide since the start of the year, according to people familiar with the matter, underscoring the fragility of the music industry’s nascent recovery.”

With download sales cratering and streaming coming up quick, Apple needed to get serious about streaming before Spotify, Google Music, and Deezer got a bigger lead. So rather than pour investment into Beats Music, which only had 250,000 people signed up for paid subscriptions as of May, it will roll streaming into iTunes, which has 800 million users and 400 million credit cards on file.

Apple doesn’t have to make money on music. It’s just a loss leader for or way to entice sales of its high-margin iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and iMacs. That, combined with its industry clout, means when it relaunches iTunes with streaming, it may be able to negotiate a much cheaper subscription rate, such as $5 a month rather than the $10 Spotify charges.

A cheap price, a massive built-in user base, and Apple hardware as a vector for distribution could make an iTunes streaming service tough to compete with.

Singles : Drake : How About Now

Singles : Drake : How About Now

Listen To : Drake : How About Now

Can we talk about Drake today? Can we talk about his new song, “How About Now?” It’s no secret how much I love Drake. He’s the “realest” out there to me. Real in the sense that I think he truly sticks to rapping about the basic elements of his life. Sometimes he tries a little too hard to be a G, but for the most part he’s not selling an alternate image of himself. I’m looking at you, Rick Ross.

I especially love emo Drake. And this song is the epitome of emo. Drake is Captain emo on this one. Giving all the feels!

First, the song starts with a voice mail message (that has you like is that Nicki Minaj or nah) from a woman who is accusing Drake of basically dissing and dismissing her. Then we go into the song where Drake is of course talking to a woman from his past, from his pre-fame, pre-the good life. He raps/sing songs about all of the things that he did for a woman – drove through the snow for her when she had to take the bar exam? Check! – and how she wasn’t really checking for him at the time. But how about now? Girl, how about now? Now that he’s famous and a superstar. Plus, as with most Drake songs, the beat is on point.

Listen. This song is greatness because who hasn’t had a ‘how about now’ moment. We are in the throes of cuffing season and those hey stranger texts and phone calls are rolling in. Former boos who played you or didn’t appreciate you might be looking across the way, checking you out, now that they see all you have to offer. Too bad, so sad that you missed out on all this greatness at the time.

Now admittedly, it’s kind of petty to count all of the things that you used to do for a person. But hey, just add me to the Tom Petty club right alongside with Drake who’s not only a member, he’s the President. When you give a lot of yourself to a person and your deeds and actions go unappreciated at the time, but then that person tries to come back into your life? Oooooooo, talk about the ultimate ego boost. Can’t help but do a little shimmy and shake in their face.

This song will be on repeat for this fall/winter season. Settle into it. And if you have experienced a ‘how about now’ moment in your dating/relationship lifetime, turn up the volume and sing along.

Pearls : Drake

"How People Treat Other People Is A Direct Refrlection Of How They Feel About Themselves"

When he was just 23, the rapper Drake set a goal for himself: He'd make $25 million by the time he was 25 years old by rapping about money, cars, girls, and—here's the bizarre part—his rawest feelings and emotions. He achieved it. Easily. Now 26 and readying his most inspired album yet, the Canadian sensation has set a new goal for himself. The approach is the same, but the endgame is exponentially more ambitious

It begins at three in the afternoon—the pool party—about an hour after Drake wakes in his manse in the San Fernando Valley. Another brightly scrubbed California day, and Drake's crew—the guys from Toronto who live with him here—are downright joyous. It's been a stretch of hard work, and everyone's eager to blow it up a little. Suddenly, bikinied women seem to materialize from thin air, as if competing in a rap beauty pageant. Some are super chatty, some aloof; some are full-bodied, some as wispy as a tamarack. A number swan about as if in a museum or a music video, firing their iPhone cameras, while others take dramatic, slow-motion strolls by the pool, as if this all will soon be theirs.

Drake's home is its own fantasia, a single-level ranch that sprawls in various wings over 7,500 square feet, from the game room to the gym to Drake's master bedroom with Jacuzzi. The pool is like a scene out of Waterworld, with a bar inside a grotto, waterfalls, and a slide that drops thirty feet through the rock. Someone leaps from the top of the waterfall into the pool while another holds on to the cliff and does pull-ups. Hung everywhere, the indoor-outdoor flat-screen TVs shine like mirrors. On the property are stables, a mechanical bull, and a movie theater. There's an air-conditioned doghouse and a wine cellar. Drake bought the place for $7.7 million from a restaurant-chain mogul who threw in all the furniture, too. When the front gate opens to allow passage, a woman's voice coos, "Access granted." Drake's boys call it Disneyland.

When not on the road, Drake splits time between here and Toronto—where he grew up and his mother still resides—surrounded by his boys, a rotating collection of about a dozen. At the kitchen island right now, a coterie of flirty women chat with Chubbs and Spoon, CJ and 40 (Drake's musical collaborator, Noah "40" Shebib, who makes the beats and mixes all the songs). Drake finds me taking in the scene. "This ain't every day," he says. "I really don't live some crazy rapper life."

I kind of believe him. Beneath the banter and joviality—beneath Drake's thousand-watt smile—one almost immediately senses a moodier seriousness, a grown-up intention, though he admits, "Today I want my boys to have their fun." Still, with the weeks counting down to a (supposed) August release for his new album, Nothing Was the Same, and a tour scheduled to follow, the pressure has ratcheted up another notch, the crew have cinched a little tighter around their leader, and Drake is trying to shield himself from all the distractions, in order to prove himself once again.

This time—three albums in, at the age of 26—the stakes seem highest of all, because Drake wants the crown. Album sales, critical acclaim, street cred. If unintentional, his timing is uncanny, because both Kanye West and Jay-Z have new albums coming out just before his, which means this summer will say a lot about the current state of rap. There's Kanye, the trailblazer, who's churned out some of the genre's most radio-ready hits this past decade. But on his new album, Yeezus, he's gone dark and aggressive and chosen not to release an official radio single. Then there's Jay-Z, who morphs a certain street hustler's cool and indifference into CEO extravagance. But for all his prominence, Jay-Z hasn't written a lot of crossover hits. Which leaves Drake, who's staked out an interior space all his own, willing to rap and sing (he gets a lot of attention for doing both) about love and desire, loneliness and isolation. At the moment, Drake is also, unquestionably, the most radio-friendly—his voice has been a constant presence on the airwaves in recent years, on his own hits and those he's gifted to other artists. It's wildly competitive; they each want to be number one. And—here's the crazy part—Drake is the favorite.

This is Drake's constant quest, to search out that emotional connection, even in a crowd of 18,000. That's both his power and, according to his Internet parodists and haters, his Achilles' heel: his willingness to show emotion, to write revealing, autobiographical lyrics, and on occasion, between the rapper tropes of bravado and materialism, to demonstrate a flash of moral conscience in a game of misogynistic excess. And for his trouble, he's been called a "counterfeit rapper" (Ludacris), "a fuckin' piece of shit" (DMX), and "a straight pussy" (Lil' Kim), and cajoled to "come out the closet" (Chris Brown). Common rapped: You so black and white, trying to live a nigga's life... / You ain't wet nobody, nigga, you Canada dry. And that's coming from Common.

"You notice they don't criticize the music itself, though," says Drake about his detractors. "I'm okay with that."

Right now, Drake says, he feels like a boxer in training before the main event. "You know the way fighters don't fuck before the fight?" he says. "Sometimes I feel like I'm so focused on training my body and getting my mind right to create this album that sex isn't one of my main priorities. If someone is around that I know and trust, I'm down. But I'm not going to end up with some stranger at this party."

Even as the house fills with half-naked ladies, Drake remains off to the side, observing—in the TV room or up in the studio, what he calls the Safari Room, for its painting of a lion on the wall—puffing on his hookah, worrying with 40 over every little mix and mumble and what its final effect will be. He's putting music "in the box," he says, in his computer here in the Safari Room, where the tracks remain a secret as yet. Sometimes he'll pull out his BlackBerry and start thumb-typing, not a text but some new lyric he's heard in his head. He collects the fragments by day and stitches them together at night.

Outside, the pool party is thumping as the sky darkens, Future and Kendrick Lamar on the stereo, several stacks of pizza boxes, drinks galore. Drake hangs around the edges of his own party but eventually moves through the crowd like Gatsby, saying his hellos, chilling, laughing, like anyone his age.

A little while later, though, he's huddled with 40 on the steps outside the Safari Room, both of them nodding their heads, going over something intensely. The party is climbing to that point where all responsibility will soon be abdicated. The music blares. Some dude puffs his chest and dives again from the top of the waterfall. Without announcing it, Drake disappears back to the studio. He's felt something and wants to get it down, in hopes you'll feel it, too.

Gadgets : iPad Air 2

With dimensions bordering on the ludicrous, Apple’s iPad Air 2 pulls away further from the competition in thinness at just 6.1mm. But this tablet, like before, is more than just thin and light. Features include an antireflective display that puts out sharper image, better color and improved contrast, a new 64-bit A8X processor and M8 coprocessor that, together, eclipse past performance, a Touch ID home button for quick unlocking, an 8 megapixel rear camera that shoots 1080p video plus 120fps slo-mo, and improved connectivity, including LTE, 866 Mbps Wi-Fi. All this with 10 hour battery life to boot. Just hope it doesn’t bend.

News : Justin Beiber Gushes About Selena Gomez

News : Justin Beiber Gushes About Selena Gomez

Justin Bieber thinks Selena Gomez is 'very beautiful'.

The 20-year-old Baby hitmaker and the 22-year-old songstress have been in the throes of an on/off relationship for months. But perhaps rumours that Selena is drifting away from him and towards Orlando Bloom sparked Justin to make his sentiments known.

'She's very beautiful, yep,' he gushed to photographers on Wednesday night, in a video captured by X17online. He had just enjoyed an Indian dinner in West Hollywood with rapper friend Lil' Za.

That day Selena had reportedly arrived at Los Angeles International Airport at the same time as Miranda Kerr's ex Orlando, even though the pair have publicly denied they are dating. The Lord of the Rings actor gave photographers a flat 'no' when they asked if he was romancing Selena. Nonetheless, whispers of their friendship apparently got Justin fired up back in July which spurred a bar brawl between the two in Ibiza, Spain.

However, the Never Say Never hitmaker can't be too focused on Selena because one day after calling her 'beautiful', he made a casual move on a model in Beverly Hills.

'You look like Princess Jasmine,' Justin told a brunette beauty in a video caught by TMZ, as he hung out of his Rolls Royce.

In the meantime, Selena has been spending plenty of time with Justin with the pair of them sharing the odd suggestive Instagram photo of each other. In September, they were even spotted out together at a Hollywood bowling alley to celebrate a friend's birthday party. This unsteady part of their relationship comes years after the pair first got together in 2010.

Videos : Ed Sheeran : Thinking Out Loud

Sheeran premiered his new music video for one of his most popular new songs, "Thinking Out Loud", online on Tuesday (Oct. 7). The U.K. singer-songwriter will release the song as the latest single from his recent chart-topping and gold-certified album, x.

The video for the romantic love song see's the 23-year-old singer showing off his dance moves as he spends the whole video engaging in a sensual contemporary ballroom dance with a beautiful brunette. The quick choreography sees Sheeran performing several lifts and twirls with his dance partner. For the dance, Sheeran is wearing black suit pants, a black suit vest, and a white Oxford shirt with the sleeves rolled up, showing off his tattoos. His partner is barefoot and dressed in a flowy white gown.

'Thinking Out Loud' is one of my favorite tracks on the album, if not my favorite,” Sheeran said in a press release about the video. "It’s a great one to perform live and means a lot to me. I wanted the video to be a little different, so I opted for ballroom dancing. I had lessons for five hours a day when I was on my U.S. tour last month." Sheeran recently wrapped up an American tour and is currently on tour across the U.K. and Ireland before heading out to tour the rest of Europe starting later in October. The tour will wrap up in New Zealand on Apr. 15, 2015. In addition, the chart-topper announced he will perform at the European MTV Video Music Awards on Nov. 9 in Glasgow where he's nominated for two awards, Best Male and Best U.K. and Ireland act.

"Thinking Out Loud" follows Sheeran's previous singles from his latest album, "Sing" and "Don't".

Gear : Phone Cases : Gresso Titanium

One good luxury item deserves another. Now that the iPhone 6 is out, we’ve seen cases coming out left and right, and you know that’s going to include the impossibly high-class ones. Gresso has been making a name for themselves in the luxury consumer tech niche market, and they’re living up to that name with their new iPhone 6 cases.

The Titanium Gresso Case T1, T2, and T3 all have titanium grade 5 backs with the Gresso logo etched in. Even though they look like regular cases at a glance, they’re put on more like bumper cases. The titanium back is connected to the bumper by a hinge, which is released with the press of a button. The difference between the three is the material used on the front detail featuring the company’s name. You can get that in polished titanium, 18K yellow gold, or 18K white gold.

The Titanium Gresso Case T1, T2, and T3 are all available now for pre-order. The T1 us selling for $2,000, while the other two or selling for $3,000 each.

News :San Fran Radio Stations Ban Lorde's 'Royals'

News :San Fran Radio Stations Ban Lorde's 'Royals'

Two San Francisco radio stations have banned Lorde's "Royals" from the airwaves for the next week because baseball is Very Serious Business, and Lorde is supporting the enemy. The New Zealand pop star's debut single has, naturally, been embraced by the Kanas City Royals, who take on the San Francisco Giants in the World Series starting Tuesday, October 21. Dedicated Giants fans asked Bay Area radio stations KFOG and 96.5 KOIT to "never play 'Royals,'" and they happily complied. The two stations agreed not to play the song for at least a week, though it could be a little longer, depending on how many games the series lasts.

Meanwhile, 99.7 THE POINT in Kansas City responding to this slight by putting "Royals" into heavy, heavy rotation during the first game. The station explained in a press release that it would be playing the apparently-controversial song "on the hour, every hour, from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., on opening night of the World Series."

The actual lyrics of "Royals" have almost nothing to do with baseball aside from the name, though there is a loose connection to the Kansas City team. According to Lorde's mother Sonja Yelich, the singer was leafing through old National Geographics when she saw a 1976 picture of third-baseman George Brett, and was inspired by the word "Royals" emblazoned on his uniform.

Neither city's radio stations have taken a stance on playing They Might Be Giants during the series.

Throwback Video : Katy Perry : California Gurls ft. Snoop Dogg

Throwback Video : Katy Perry : California Gurls ft. Snoop Dogg

“California Gurls” is a pop song by American singer-songwriter, Katy Perry. It serves as the lead single of her sophomore studio album, Teenage Dream. The song features rapper Snoop Dogg, and was produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Benny Blanco.

According to the California Gurls Songfacts, the unconventional spelling of the song title is a reference to Big Star’s September Gurls. Perry also revealed that the song is a response to Jay-Z’s Empire State Of Mind.

The song was originally intended to be sent to mainstream and rhythmic airplay on May 25, 2010. However, after clips from Perry’s new album were leaked online, her label released the song to radio on May 7, 2010 and also began to stream it on her website.

“California Gurls ” has the world record for most airplays in one week, previously held by Ke$ha for TiK ToK.

Videos : Marc Anthony : Flor Pálida

Videos : Marc Anthony : Flor Pálida

It’s out! Marc Anthony’s music video for Flor Pálida was just released on YouTube and it was partly flimed in Casa de Campo, in Altos de Chavón!

The video which tells the love story of Marc Anthony and his gorgeous girlfriend, Shannon de Lima includes scenes in the Dominican countryside, the sugarcane fields of La Romana, as well as right here in Altos de Chavón!

In Altos de Chavón, Shannon de Lima and Marc Anthony are seen in Papa Jacks bar, as well as at the end outside the St. Stanislaus Church dancing in the Chavón Plaza.

And that’s not all! The grand finale of the Flor Pálida video is the couple seemingly getting married here in Altos de Chavón, a scene which opens with Shannon de Lima riding in on horseback and ends with the couple running out of the St. Stanislaus Church!

Ryan Gosling can thank the soundtrack to 2011's Drive, which featured music by Cliff Martinez, Chromatics, Kavinsky, College and Electric Youth, and more, for making him look so cool. Now, a group of bands have taken on the daunting task of replicating the effect. BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe has enlisted Chvrches, Foals, SBTRKT, Jon Hopkins, Laura Mvula, the 1975, Baauer, BANKS, Bastille, Bring Me The Horizon, Eric Prydz, the Neighbourhood, and ZCC (aka Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro) in making a brand new soundtrack for Drive. The project is titled Radio 1 Rescores: Drive - Curated by Zane Lowe. All of the tracks but one are brand new, made specifically for this project.

The film will be broadcast on BBC Three on October 30. Viewers will be able to switch between the new and original soundtracks.

In a press release, Lowe called the project "the most ambitious, awesome thing we’ve ever done." Nicolas Winding Refn, who directed Drive, also expressed his support.

Bars : Cuba : Havana : Floridita

Bars : Cuba : Havana : Floridita

About Floridita
When you step into the Floridita bar, at the corner of Obispo and Monserrate in the heart of Old Havana, you'll pass between a couple of burgundy-curtained alcoves decked out like little shrines. The one on the right holds a painting of Constante Ribalaigua, the legendary barman who presided over the place from 1904 or so, when he was 16, until his death in 1952. The one on the left holds a faded, gold-framed article from the December 1959 issue of Esquire, naming the Floridita one of the "World's Seven Greatest Bars." At first glance, the Floridita seems to be pretty much the same bar we celebrated all those years ago, same layout, same general color scheme, same bronze statuette frolicking behind the bar, even the same upholstered iron barstools.

Then the gaggle of T-shirted Canadians over by the corner parts and you see the other statue. Bronze, too, but life-size. Hemingway. Right in the corner, sitting on his favorite stool. And you know: Time does not stand still. This Floridita is not Hemingway's Floridita. It's a tourist trap. Order a daiquiri — what the hell; besides, it says THE CRADLE OF THE DAIQUIRI in big brass letters right there on the backbar — and that impression will be confirmed when the red-jacketed bartender elegantly pours a bunch of stuff into a blender, whirs it around, and decants it into a rather large cocktail glass. Now, in Constante's day, you think to yourself, this place was famous for the uncompromising quality of its drinks, universally regarded as the finest in Cuba and perhaps in the world. This, though...

You could leave after your token drink, like most of the other tourists do. Or you could ask for a daiquiri that is shaken, not frozen, and notice the other people who are sticking around. Many of them are Cuban — drinking at a bar that costs them the equivalent of $150 a drink while it costs you about $6. (Cuba has one currency for locals and another for tourists.) Sip your drink, made simply, quickly, and with some of the best rum on the planet.

Floridita Reviews By Lucy R
Yes it's touristy, yes it's probably overpriced for what it is - but we loved it in there. We had food there on our first night and we soon realized when we ventured out the next day how expensive it was for Havana, but in our ignorant state we really enjoyed it!

The daiquiris and mojitos were the best we had in Cuba and live music was always of a really high standard. Would definitely recommend if you're around Obispo area!

News : Ariana Grande + Big Sean Confirmed

News : Ariana Grande + Big Sean Confirmed

It's been rumoured for months. But in an exclusive interview with the Telegraph, the 21-year-old pop star has revealed that she and hip hop artist Big Sean are in a relationship.

Pop star Ariana Grande has publicly confirmed her relationship with hip hop artist Big Sean for the first time. In an exclusive interview with the Telegraph Magazine, Grande was asked if it’s true that she is dating Sean Anderson, ASKA Big Sean. ‘Yes,’ replied the 21-year-old. ‘He is one of the most amazing men in the whole world, and that includes my grandfather and my brother. I think the world of him, and he’s an amazing person. That’s kind of all there is to it.’ The pair have been linked since the 26-year-old Anderson contributed to Grande’s second album My Everything. He is a featured artist on album track Best Mistake and stars as the uncredited ‘whisperer’ on the pop star’s breakthrough single Problem. Grande recently became the first female solo artist in the United States to achieve two number one albums within 12 months since 2010 and made UK chart history in July when Problem became the first song to reach number one single based on sales and streaming. Anderson, from Detroit, Michigan, has recorded two studio albums as Big Sean and was engaged to Glee actress and singer Naya Rivera until April of this year.

Elsewhere in the interview, the former Nickelodeon child star combats recent tabloid reports painting her as a precocious ‘diva’, defends controversial contemporary (and Beverly Hill next-door neighbour) Miley Cyrus and details her love for ‘all things sci-fi and scary’.

Videos : Fall Out Boy : Centuries

Videos : Fall Out Boy : Centuries
Fall Out Boy has released their official music video for their hit song "Centuries" that has really taken hold of the sports world since it's release. You can watch the full video above, straight out of ancient Roman times.

"Centuries" will be the first new track from the band's new album, the follow-up to last year's album Save Rock and Roll. You can purchase "Centuries" on iTunes HERE.

They wrapped up their Co-headlining tour with Paramore called the Monumentour 2014. The tour kicked off on June 19th in Hartford, CT and wrapped up on August 17th in Concord, CA.

Pete Wentz recently spoke with Rocksound.tv about their new album. You can check out the full interview HERE.

HOW DID 'CENTURIES' COME TOGETHER?

Says Pete Wentz (bass / vocals): "Well, the way things usually evolve with us... we'll write a bunch of stuff, and when it gets cooking, we'll bring it to a simmer! When things really start happening, we want to get some momentum building. We're always writing. With 'Centuries', we were on the Monumentour with Paramore, Patrick [Stump, vocals / guitar] came forward with the song, and it just seemed very timely. It felt like the time to really get things going, and we've had the pedal to the metal as far as writing goes. So in a sense, the song created its own timeline. It's not like we have an album done yet or anything. The way the song came out was very feral. We just had to build a plan around it. Now we've got to finish writing the album, and go on to record it."

DO YOU HAVE AN IDEAL TIME WHEN YOU'D LIKE TO RETURN WITH A NEW ALBUM?

"We don't have an exact timetable yet. I mean, I have a two-week old son and Patrick has a baby on the way in October, so there's a lot going on. The thing that we've done is... we're basically like Tuscan Raiders, Sand People from Star Wars. We're very mobile, our families are very mobile, and our kids can go on tour with us every summer. I don't think that's necessarily an issue. The other thing is that we still care about albums. I don't think that pop culture is at a place where as a whole, it cares about new contemporary albums, but our fanbase definitely does. They really care about bodies of work, and that's something we still aspire to. My guess is 2015 - very early 2015 - for an album. And that's absolutely the goal; we won't just be putting out songs, there will be an album."
