Listen To The Wanted : Walks Like Rihanna
Ladies, take note: The guys in The Wanted are just looking for a girl who "Walks Like Rihanna."
A snippet of the band's new single has appeared online and is more stripped down than previous club-bangers like "Glad You Came" and "Chasing the Sun." The 30-second tease features the track's sing-along chorus where the fellas proclaim, "She can't sing/ She can't dance/ But who cares/ She walks like Rihanna."
The song was co-produced and co-written by hitmaker Dr. Luke. After hitting U.K. radio on Monday, the song will be available on June 23. "We are really excited about this single. We feel it's a little different from the usual Wanted sound. We've stripped it back to pure pop. It's just a feel-good, fun track," Tom Parker said in a statement. "Fun is a good word to describe the video too. Let's just say it's got a lot of character."
A video will hit the streets on May 7 and is a cheeky peek at life in a boy band. It was shot in L.A., where the guys filmed their E! reality show, which is set to premiere on June 2 and will, according to manager Scooter Braun, include "a lot of singing and a lot of drinking."
Currently the guys are one singer down as Nathan Sykes is recovering from vocal surgery. (Sykes recorded "Rihanna" before the surgery.) But Braun told MTV News earlier this week that they are keeping their fingers crossed he will soon be well enough to join them again. For now, Sykes is on an "unforeseen hiatus."
"We're worried, but he's in recovery right now and we're being optimistic. Our prayers go out to him and right now we don't know. We're just waiting to see how he reacts to the surgery," Braun explained.
"They want him back, so you know they're calling daily and he can't really speak. But we're trying to keep his spirits up," he added. "And letting him know the group's not the same without him."
