Gadgets : Jabra Move Wireless Bluetooth Headphones

Gagdets : Jabra Move Wireless Bluetooth Headphones

Bigger isn’t necessarily better when it comes to bluetooth headphones; Jabra has done an excellent job of proving this to us with their new Jabra Move Wireless On-Ear headphones. We can only assume they’re called the Moves because they’re designed for people on the move. They’re lightweight and durable with a rock and roll attitude. They sport an 8 hour battery a respectable price tag, and are available in a few awesome colors.

The Jabra Move Wireless is actually about the same size as your standard on-ears, but their minimalistic design makes them look and feel smaller. The donut shaped earcups have the diameter of a large ear. The earcups are well cushioned and the flexible headband ensures keeps them from getting uncomfortable with extended wear. The band is made of a very durable and flexible metal and wrapped with a slightly cushioned fabric. You can tell when going hands-on that the band and hinges will last you a while, but just to be sure Jabra has flexibility tested the band 10,000 times. Somehow Jabra managed to keep these headphones quite light at under 6 ounces in weight.

The Jabra Moves are, of course, wireless bluetooth headphones. They have a built-in battery thats rechargeable using a standard micro-USB cable. They come with a regular headphone cable too so you can use them without battery and with any music player. The included cable is maybe the most disappointing feature. It’s just a regular cable, no inline control or microphone. Luckily, if you’re using bluetooth, there is a microphone and audio controls built straight into the headset. After all, Jabra is known for their bluetooth headsets. Theres a volume rocker with a universal button on the center. The controls take a bit of getting used to. The volume buttons double as track control buttons with a long press. The universal button pauses and plays music, or answers and ends calls. Holding it accesses Siri, and double tapping redials your last phone call.

The battery is rated to last for 8 hours of play or 12 days of standby. In practice, it will get most people through the week. The standby is top notch. The headphones know when you’re not listening to music and essentially power off. The only weird thing with the battery is that at about 40% battery, you’ll start to get low battery prompts. On iPhone, there’s a battery indicator that displays remaining battery when connected via bluetooth. The battery only takes between 1 and 2 hours to fully charge.

We were pleasantly surprised with the Jabra Move’s sound quality. With their size and price point, we didn’t have the highest expectations, but they’re quite enjoyable! It helps that the earcups create a great seal around your ear. The noise isolation is fantastic. Music comes alive with the Jabra Moves. There’s a lot of depth and clarity. The bass is full and gets pretty bassy, but it’s also well balanced. It won’t rattle your skull, but there’s enough bass that you can feel it without your music getting overshadowed. The highs are crisp and the mids are clear and well detailed.

Verdict

Pricing in just under $100, the Jabra Moves could be the best on-ear Bluetooth headphones out there for the price. You’re getting a lot for the price: portability, comfort, wireless audio with a solid range, supreme audio quality, and it doubles as a bluetooth headset. They’re nice and durable, so you’ll want to bring them everywhere. For now, there are three colors available: black, blue, or red. The Jabra Moves currently available on Amazon for as little as $93.49.

The Good: Lightweight, Durable, Comfortable, Great audio, Micro-USB charging, Microphone and Audio controls built-in, Colors, Affordable
The Bad: Low battery alerts start very early, No controls/microphone on included cable
