Who Is DuQuaye?
DuQuaye was born on April 9, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Although he has maintained a low profile in the public eye, many industry insiders know and respect DuQuaye for his loyalty, experience, and passion for music. His guidance and knowledge is highly sought after by owners of studios and labels, recording artists, and producers who all usually want DuQuaye to manage their careers or companies. DuQuaye is a born leader who is unafraid to risk everything that he is for everything that he can become. After graduating from Hampton University in 2005, DuQuaye landed a job in the healthcare industry. He was selected to be in a 12-month-long training program for a job that came with a six figure salary. After a while DuQuaye could no longer ignore the urge he felt in his heart that told him to step out on faith and go after his dreams.

During the 8th month of training DuQuaye made the decision to trade the guaranteed six figure salary for a chance at a career in the music industry. During the first week of his arrival in Atlanta, DuQuaye received a position as a promotions intern at one of the top studios on the East Coast, Patchwerk Recording Studios. He did everything from pass out fliers at 3am in freezing weather to plaster the city with stickers and posters for a group called South West Click, who were signed to Patchwerk. Eventually, DuQuaye worked his way up to being the marketing coordinator for the group, and soon after became the group’s manager alongside Jacey Kidd. It didn’t take long for Patchwerk to notice DuQuaye’s determination and offer him a paid staff position.

While working at Patchwerk DuQuaye created a talent competition called, Wanna Be A Star. The show was an instant success and word quickly spread on the internet and throughout the Southern states. People would travel hundreds of miles to audition for DuQuaye with the hopes of being chosen to be in the show. “I love to create opportunity for people. If I can do something that I think is simple like make a phone call that will change a person’s life then why not make that call if the person truly deserves it, “ DuQuaye told a reporter. Through his show DuQuaye opened many doors for artists and was also very instrumental in getting two of the contestants (TK and Cash) recording contracts with Ludacris’ record label Disturbing Tha Peace (Island Def Jam). One of the regular judges in DuQuaye’s show was industry heavyweight Debra Antney, who DuQuaye refers to as “Aunty.” Antney always had a high level of respect for DuQuaye’s opinion and his knowledge of music, so when she needed an A&R at her company, Mizay Entertainment she hired DuQuaye and put him in charge of all music for all of her artists and producers, including Waka Flocka, OJ Da Juice Man, Lex Luger, Wooh Da Kid, Slim Dunkin, South Side, Bo Deal, French Montana, Frenchie, and many others.

Eventually, people began asking DuQuaye to manage their careers because of the knowledge and experience he attained throughout his career. DuQuaye has managed reality stars Frankie and Neffie, mother and sister of singer Keyshia Cole; producer Cash Clay, producer of The Rich Kids’ hit single, Friends With Benefits. DuQuaye also managed SUPER-PRODUCER, MIKE WILL, who is responsible for creating a string of hit songs for Rhianna, Rick Ross, Kelly Rowland, Busta Rhymes, 2 Chains, Futuer, Gucci Mane, and many others.

In late 2012 DuQuaye made the decision to begin using his vocal talent, and knowledge about the music industry to build a career as an artist for himself. He went into the studio with super-producer, Big Fraze. Together they created an amazing list of hit songs “I want to achieve universal appeal as an artist. I want my music to touch people in different communities so that we can all dance and party together.” DuQuaye said regarding his goal for his music.
