Videos : The Griswolds : The Courtship of Summer Preasley

Who Is The Griswolds?
“The chameleons of pop.” That description holds true for the Sydney indie pop group, formed almost two years ago by singer/guitarist Christopher Whitehall and lead guitarist Daniel Duque-Perez, as they look to become a globally known act.

The Griswolds were thrown into the spotlight immediately after they found instant success in early 2012 when they became Australia’s Triple J “Unearthed” feature artist and won a slot on the 2012 Parklife Festival lineup alongside Passion Pit. In the beginning there was no set plan for the music, which was created almost incidentally by the joint efforts of the duo. The two musicians had been playing in various bands around Sydney and got together one night to expand on a guitar riff Dan had written. That was when they knew almost immediately, they had great songwriting chemistry.

“At the very beginning, you don’t really know what to expect and don’t really know what the potential is with a new project,” Christopher said. “There was some skepticism about what we would do with it, but after we wrote a few songs together it was clear that this was something special. These weren’t just good songs; they were some of the best songs we’ve ever written.”

That riff evolved into a song called “Mississippi,” which later became the band’s first hit in Australia. “Mississippi,” and its buoyant, upbeat melody, sing-along chorus and group vocals embrace the exuberant tone the musicians wanted to pursue with The Griswolds.

The Griswolds’ lineup is rounded out by bassist Tim John and drummer Chris Riley. They self-recorded and released their debut Heart of a Lion EP in Australia during the fall of 2012 without actually having a band name yet. After a long late night conversation, the name The Griswolds came up through their mutual love for National Lampoon’s Vacation film series and it stuck. The EP, a shimmering four-song collection of tropical indie pop numbers, immediately earned them notable accolades from press and fans alike will be released in the United States on September 3, 2013.

All of the songs were written and produced by Whitehall and Duque-Perez and were recorded in the musicians’ house as well as a studio in Sydney throughout 2012. They selected the four best songs they’d written to comprise their first EP release. “We decided to go all-in,” Christopher says. “We just wanted to write the best songs and then make it work. And we got lucky. The guys who are in the band are all amazing musicians.”

“Heart of a Lion,” the single, with its charming and buoyant toe-tapping sounds, has received airplay in over 20 countries worldwide. The track was also featured as an iTunes “Single of the Week” and notably created a huge buzz in the Netherlands, where it reached No. 3 in radio airplay.

The Griswolds have toured extensively in Australia, Europe and the U.S. with artists such as, Django Django, San Cisco and Last Dinosaurs to name a few and played numerous Australian festivals including Big Day Out, a show that stands out in their minds as their favorite show to date. “It was 48 degrees Celsius and it was early in the day but when we walked out to the stage the crowd was enormous, over 2000 people all screaming the words back at us,” said Dan, “and best of all was that it was in our home city.”

They plan to expand their aesthetic on their debut album, which they will record with Tony Hoffer in LA in November 2013. It will be released in early 2014 and will showcase the band’s growth since recording their EP. And now with the EP coming out in the States on Wind-up Records, The Griswolds have started thinking beyond making songs with no real intention. Everything, though, still goes back to the two guys who connected over a guitar riff.

“Back when we wrote the EP it was two guys in a house writing songs for fun and not really knowing who was going to be listening to it,” Christopher says. “We wrote for fun and for us and for Australia and that was great. Now we’re getting a lot more ambitious and we’re thinking globally. But we want to stay true to ourselves. I think our style of music all comes down to big choruses you can sing along to.”

Listen To Nicki Minaj ft. PTAF : Boss Ass Bitch Remix

As 2013 winds to a close, Nicki Minaj is capping off her year by dropping some incredibly filthy rhymes on her remix of PTAF's "Boss Ass Bitch."

This isn't so much a remix as it is a complete remake. Minaj lifts the beat and the hook from the unpolished original tune — which comes from 2012 and was made by a group alternately known as Pretty Taking All Fades — and adds her own verses. These includes repeated uses of the word "pussy" and advice about casual sex and emotional manipulation using dick pics.

Towards the end, it includes a strange, awkwardly sung break, but this is mostly a beat-driven banger.

Who Is Young Chris?
Young Chris (born Christopher F. Ries in 1983) is a Grammy nominated American rapper and songwriter. A member of Philadelphia rap duo Young Gunz, formerly signed to Roc-A-Fella Records through Beanie Sigel’s State Property collective, early success included the hit single "Can't Stop, Won't Stop". Signed in December 2010 as a solo artist to Universal Motown through producer/songwriter Rico Love’s label imprint Division1, Young Chris is currently working on his album release. Because of identical names (minus a spelling difference), he is often confused with rapper Yung Chris and incorrectly credited as the performer of the song "Racks".

Young Chris and Neef Buck (born Hanif Muhammad) had been friends since they were young boys on the block (C-Ave). On "Takeover", a track from his 2001 album The Blueprint, Jay-Z announced the duo as "Chris & Neef". In 2001, the duo performed on the State Property soundtrack album. Young Chris and Neef starred in the titular movie. Also during this period of their career, Young Chris appeared throughout Dame Dash's Dream Team compilation, and Beanie Sigel's The Reason. The duo performed together on guest appearances for albums like Jay-Z's The Blueprint 2, Freeway's Philadelphia Freeway, State Property's The Chain Gang Vol. 2, and Memphis Bleek's M.A.D.E.; all while recording their album. The Young Gunz scored their first hit with "Can't Stop, Won't Stop", the lead-off single from The Chain Gang Vol. 2 album. Its song and video received major airplay on hip-hop radio, MTV2, and BET and reached #14 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and #6 on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart.

After the success of their single, "Can't Stop, Won't Stop", the label jumped and was ready to release their debut album, Tough Luv. It included the remix to "Can't Stop, Won't Stop", which featured St. Louis rapper Chingy. Singles included "No Better Love" featuring former Roc-A-Fella Records crooner Rell and the Just Blaze-produced "Friday Night". Tough Luv debuted on the Billboard 200 at #3 after selling 128,000 copies in its first week. That week, the album at #2 was labelmate Kanye West's debut album The College Dropout, which was released just two weeks earlier.

After a brief hiatus, the duo returned with Swizz Beatz produced "Set It Off" from their second album, Brothers from Another. It was the second release from the "new" Roc-A-Fella Records, referencing when Jay-Z became president of Def Jam Records, the first being Memphis Bleek's 534. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at #15, and included guest features from Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Slim of 112 and John Legend.

As early as March 2006, Young Chris thought about recording a solo album. He initially titled it Now or Never. He stated to XXL magazine that he wanted to release a solo album by the end of 2008 and had been "95 percent done" by June 2008. In this article, Young Chris also states that he feels himself up there with Lil' Wayne and Juelz Santana. Since this time, Chris has taken to the internet to solidify himself as a top solo artist, with his YoungChris.com Social Network, hitting the remix circuit, and his much anticipated "The Network" Mixtape series, hosted by DJ Don Cannon.

In December 2010 Young Chris signed with Division1, a label started by songwriter/producer Rico Love, under the Universal Motown umbrella. Love considers Young Chris his flagship artist, working closely with Young Chris on his debut album and pre-album/mixtape. The mixtape, called "The Re-Introduction", was released on November 20, 2010. The aptly titled mixtape gives the spotlight to a newly signed Young Chris, as a solo artist, and also, re-introduces the combination of DJ Drama and Don Cannon, the former "Affiliates" partners, hosting their first mixtape together, in several years.

On January 28, a song called "Philly Shit (Mega Mix)" featuring Young Chris, Eve, Black Thought, Money Malc, Fat Joe, Fred The Godson, Diggy Simmons, Jermaine Dupri & The Game was leaked. On March 22, 2011, Young Chris’ single “A$$ets” was commercially released.

Bars + Lounges : USA : CA: Silver Lake : 4100 Bar

About 4100 Bar
Located in the heart of Sunset Junction, the 4100 Bar is Silver Lake’s classic, quintessential neighborhood bar. Its rich, colorful decor reflects the eclectic neighborhood which the bar calls home.

The 4100 is the perfect place to grab a booth and catch up with an old pal or to bring that “special someone” for a romantic, intimate date. On Fridays and Saturdays the 4100 Bar features delicious handcrafted cocktails, a bustling singles scene, two parking lots and an amazing BBQ. And, of course, all of your neighborhood friends are already there!

4100 Bar Review By Drew H.: East Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA
"This is my favorite bar in LA. No doubt about it. Dark and cozy. Divey, but classy. Casual and stylish. Bartenders are all great, helpful, and friendly. There are no TVs so don't expect to watch a game there, but it forces people to be more socially interactive. Great for meeting people or bringing a date. There is a decent jukebox inside and while it's not being used the employees usually have respectable playlists going. The door men are cool cats and fun to talk to. I have been to this place a ton and never once had a bad experience. Don't be a coward, have a look for yourself.

Rock on Antonio, Eric, Brooklyn, Elizabeth, Kristin, Ralph, Nancy, Travis, Casey!"

Listen To Drake : Trophies

If you had the opportunity to attend Drake's 'Would You Like A Tour?' tour these past couple months, chances are you might have heard the Canadian singer/rapper play a new song titled 'Trophies'. In the early morning hours on December 29th, Drake has finally delivered the long-awaited studio version of that song, which features production from Hit-Boy. "Man this sh*t is not a love song, this is a f*ck a stripper on a mink rug song " raps the Young Money rapper. Drake originally recorded 'Trophies' for his now platinum LP 'Nothing Was The Same' but chose to leave the song off the final cut as he felt the hook wasn't right.

'Trophies' is the second song release from Drake in the past two days. The first being the Soulja Boy-assisted 'We Made It' last night. The Toronto rapper hinted a few weeks back he planned to release the remix to 'Wu-Tang Forever' alongside 'Trophies' but it appears we'll have to wait a little longer for that.

Cop 'Nothing Was The Same' on iTunes and listen to 'Trophies' above.

Videos : Phantogram : Black Out Days

Who Is Phantogram?
Phantogram (formerly Charlie Everywhere) is an American electronic rock duo from Saratoga Springs, New York, formed in 2007 and consisting of Josh Carter ( vocals, guitars) and Sarah Barthel (vocals, keyboards).

They write and record in a remote barn in upstate New York called Harmony Lodge. The band name was partially inspired by an optical illusion called a phantogram, in which two-dimensional images appear to be three-dimensional.

They described their sound as "street beat, psych pop". According to Josh Carter, their music has "lots of rhythms, swirling guitars, spacey keyboards, echoes, airy vocals".

The band released a studio album (Eyelid Movies in 2009), four EPs (Phantogram and Running From the Cops in 2009, Nightlife in 2011, Phantogram in 2013) and five singles.

Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel were friends since junior high school. In the summer of 2007, Barthel returned home dissatisfied with pursuing a visual arts degree and Carter returned home after a brief stint in New York City with Grand Habit, an experimental band formed with his older brother, John. The two friends reunited and worked on finishing some songwriting ideas Carter made earlier and then finally formed the band. Carter and Barthel were inspired by artists like J Dilla, Madlib, Cocteau Twins, The Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, Yes, The Beatles, David Bowie, John Frusciante, Serge Gainsbourg, Kevin Shields and Prince.

The duo was originally called Charlie Everywhere when performing around the Saratoga Springs area on the local label Sub-Bombin Records. The group signed with BBE on 26 January 2009 and changed their name to Phantogram. Their self-titled debut EP was released on 12 May 2009, followed in the same year by another EP, Running From the Cops. They signed with Barsuk Records in October 2009.

Phantogram released their debut album Eyelid Movies in September 2009 on BBE (Europe) and February 2010 on Barsuk Records (USA). The album received generally favorable reviews. From this album, they issued the singles "Mouthful of Diamonds", "When I'm Small" and "As Far As I Can See".

The EP Nightlife, was released on 1 November 2011 and included the single "Don't Move".

The duo collaborated with Big Boi from OutKast on three songs ("Objectum Sexuality", "CPU" and "Lines") from his second studio album, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. Phantogram are also credited as producers for the song "Objectum Sexuality". Phantogram also featured on the song "You Lust" by The Flaming Lips from their 2013 album The Terror.

On 30 September 2013, they released the four songs EP Phantogram. It will be followed by their second studio album, Voices, with an expected release date of February 18, 2014.

Phantogram have played and toured with The Antlers, Beach House, Metric, Minus The Bear, Caribou, Zero 7, The xx, Ra Ra Riot, School of Seven Bells, Yeasayer, Brazilian Girls, Future Islands, and The Glitch Mob.

They have also played several major North American festivals including Coachella, Sasquatch, Bonnaroo, Treasure Island, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, LouFest, and Bumbershoot. They played on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in 2011 and 2013.

In 2010, they enlisted drummer Tim Oakley, formerly of The Mathematicians, for their tour. In 2013 Phantogram performed at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon backed by tour drummer Chris Carhart and Nick Shelestak on keyboards.

Videos : Wale Ft. Meek Mill : Heaven's Afternoon

We commend Wale for releasing new material to coincide with recent news about gripes he has with certain music publications. His latest release is this visual for a personal favorite from The Gifted called "Heaven's Afternoon," featuring Meek Mill.

Wale kept it simple in this black and white treatment. His hometown of Washington D.C. served as the locale, in which he and his homies post in front of a Rolls Royce. Images of the city blend into the scenes. Meek joins later from a different location to kick his verse.

Again, "Heaven's Afternoon" appears on Wale's The Gifted, one of the 25 best albums this year. Purchase the LP via iTunes if you've yet to do so. Check out the video for the track above.

Who Is Broods?
Broods is a pop music duo from Auckland, New Zealand, composed of multi-instrumentalist Caleb Nott and younger sister Georgia Nott on vocals. They signed with Capitol and Polydor Records in December 2013, and will release their debut EP on January 28, 2014, followed by a full-length album in August.

Originally from Nelson, New Zealand, Caleb and Georgia Nott have performed together since childhood. They won a talent contest at Richmond Mall in 2010 as teenagers and performed together in the indie rock band The Peasants while attending Garin College. The band won the Smokefreerockquest music competition in 2011, but split in late-2012 after winning a grant from NZ On Air. Georgia Nott then began studying popular music at the University of Auckland.

Broods was formed in Auckland in early 2013 and the brother-sister project began collaborating with music producer Joel Little, who had produced Lorde's hit single, "Royals". Broods released their debut song, "Bridges", online in October 2013. The song was picked up by Idolator and other music blogs, earning over 200,000 streams in a week. MTV described the track as "a bittersweet synth-pop echo chamber". In December 2013, Broods signed with Capitol Records in the U.S. and Polydor in the UK. They will release their debut album in August 2014. They made the song "Never Gonna Change" available for streaming in anticipation of their debut EP, to be released on January 28, 2014.

Who Is Moxie Raia?
I would say that singing is my passion, that's why I left my hometown and moved to New York with mys sister to pursue my dreams in becoming a music artist.

Fortunately, I was later signed in to "The Brain" and made my own music with my own style.

The staggered release of my forthcoming mix tape, R.P.Y, begins mid-September 2013 on my website, www.yomoxie.com. This was produced by my fellow members of The Brain, Benny Cassette (Kanye West, Yeezus), it is an unusual piece of stark individuality and an outpouring of raw, reckless emotion.

Cars : 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith Coupe

Cars : 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith Coupe

Rolls-Royce says the new 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith coupe embodies the speedy, adventurous spirit of the brand's forefather, gentleman racer and rich guy Charles Stewart Rolls. It revives a nameplate last seen in 1938 and becomes the most powerful Rolls model to date. And with more than 600 horsepower and a striking fastback design, the Wraith shows the ultraluxury British automaker turning its gaze down a more sporting path.

It's an unconventional direction from the stately British automaker, but not without calculation. Rolls-Royce has largely watched from the side as former brandmate Bentley wins the hearts of New Money with the Continental. It also sees Audi and Mercedes-Benz encroaching on its rarefied ground. A Rolls-Royce still has no real competition, but the bosses at BMW still want some insurance on their bets.

The word "wraith" means apparition or specter, an appropriate choice for this shorter, two-door version of the Ghost sedan. The Wraith, like the Ghost, uses platform architecture based on the BMW 7 Series. But with a 7-inch shorter wheelbase than the Ghost, the Wraith actually changes direction with more acuity than a traditional Rolls-Royce. Even the steering and suspension have been given a quasi-performance tuning.

At 17 feet long, 6.5 feet wide and weighing 5,200 pounds, however, the Wraith isn't a sports car by any stretch. But it is composed and reasonably accurate when asked to make quick movements. Bringing that mass up to speed falls to a twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 generating 624 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, the latter unleashed as early as 1,500 rpm. Rolls-Royce claims zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

The 12-cylinder engine joins an eight-speed automatic transmission offering a "Satellite Aided Transmission" feature. Using GPS to scan the road ahead, the transmission can automatically select the best gear for the conditions ahead, whether an open highway or dense urban intersection.

Other Wraith features will include adaptive headlights, signature rear-hinged doors, keyless trunk opening, a head-up display, voice-command navigation and a rotary controller for on-screen commands. There's also a pinch-and-pull touchpad similar to a smartphone for inputting letters or phonetic characters, thus bypassing the need to scroll through multiple screens of character combinations.

Finally, there's the optional Starlight Headliner. In case you can't pull the stars close enough to you inside the cabin, this bespoke option -- previously available only on Phantom models -- hand-weaves 1,340 tiny fiber-optic lamps into the headliner to simulate a starry night sky.

In Europe, customers take delivery of the first 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith models late this year for the equivalent of about $320,000. Neither pricing nor availability for North America has been announced, but expect the Wraith to debut in the U.S. late next summer as a 2014 model. Check back for more info on the Rolls-Royce Wraith, including specs, driving impressions and buying advice as it becomes available.

Videos : Miley Cyrus : Adore You

Videos : Miley Cyrus : Adore You

If controversy is working really well for her, why stop, right? Miley Cyrus gets under the bed sheets, grabs a camera, and touches herself in the music video for "Adore You". The beautiful Oren Yoel-produced R&B-esque ballad is lifted from Miley's fourth studio album "Bangerz". Will have "Adore You" have the same success of its predecesors?.

Thank Goodness Miley didn't release the Britney Spears-assisted song "SMS" as her third single as it was heavily speculated on the Web. "Adore You" is stunning in every way, and radios won't have much choice but to play it over and over again. This may turn out too an unexpected hit for Miley on other radio formats besides Pop.

As for the new music video, it's so simple but it's got "that something" that makes it captivating. Miley played it smart again. The "touching myself" game will definitely bring huge views to her video on YouTube/VEVO, meaning more money for her.

Videos : Kendrick Lamar and Eddie Peake : Sing About Me Part 1

Kendrick Lamar paints a pretty picture with his latest clip "Sing About Me." The Compton kid taps artist Eddie Peake for the black and white visual, beginning with the opening message:

"When the lights shut off, an artist's dream is that their work will stand the test of time. The ones that influence our culture are the ones we most remember. Here, two powerful creative forces come together to elevate the status quo and lay ground to their legacy. This is their poetry. Sing about them. This is part one."

Stay tuned for part two (presumably titled "Dying of Thirst") and catch the Grammy nominee's new masterpiece above.

From this tiny town that’s home to a gas station, two blinking yellow lights, and a small tin-roofed barn dubbed Studio B, country rockers Parmalee launched their long journey to Nashville. The near-fatal robbery Parmalee experienced after a show would have destroyed most bands. But brothers Matt and Scott Thomas, cousin Barry Knox and longtime friend Josh McSwain didn't call it quits. Instead it reinforced their intense motivation and dedication to one another and to their determination to succeed.

Each obstacle that delayed Parmalee’s arrival to Nashville was an extra mile that allowed the groundbreaking sounds of artists like Jason Aldean and Eric Church to pave the way for the worlds of country radio and Parmalee’s brand of country music to meet at the perfect crossroad.

Parmalee’s country rock sound has its roots in the bluegrass, traditional country, southern rock and blues covers the guys grew up hearing their families play.

Matt and Scott Thomas grew up near Greenville, NC watching their father Jerry front a popular local southern rock blues band. The boys watched and learned, picking up their own instruments and jamming along with their dad's band. From this they learned how to integrate their own style into the songs they were playing. Barry Knox, who played drums for the church choir, loved what his cousins were doing and soon joined them.

All that practice paid off one night when Matt and Scott, then teenagers, snuck into a club to watch their father perform. "The guitar player got too drunk before the gig and didn't show," Matt explains. "I knew all the songs so my dad called me on stage. I was in the band from that point on." Scott replaced the drummer, and Barry learned bass in order to secure his spot in the band. The line-up became the newly minted The Thomas Brothers Band.

The Thomas Brothers Band cut their teeth on the local club circuit and would often share the same marquee with a cover band that starred their friend Josh McSwain on guitar and keys. Josh’s upbringing paralleled Matt, Scott and Barry’s. Josh also traveled and played with his father who was in a bluegrass band called “Get Honked.” A fan of Josh’s musical prowess, Matt invited Josh to play with Barry, Scott and himself. The foursome clicked immediately on stage. Their first gig was held at local watering hole, Corrigans, near East Carolina University where the guys went to school. From this moment in 2001 Parmalee was born.

The band set up camp every Tuesday and Thursday evening in the Parmele, NC barn they named Studio B after its original builder Mark Bryant. They added an extra “e” to the band's name to make it easier for those outside the area to pronounce it. “Tuesdays and Thursdays were the only nights we could all get together and rehearse – the rest of the time we were each out working in order to fund Parmalee,” Matt says. “Every person in town could hear us practice in the barn, so we also had to stop at 11 p.m. to be considerate of the neighborhood."

The residents of Parmele weren't the only ones within earshot. The band developed a devout regional following based on the intensity of their live shows. But, the guys knew to turn their dreams into reality they would have to leave North Carolina. Their journey took them all over the country including New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta as they tried to find their musical direction. All of the producers, managers, and label representatives said the same thing: "you guys need to be in Nashville."

Matt, Barry and Josh parked their RV, which doubled as their studio, in the Comfort Inn parking lot on Nashville’s famed Demonbreun Street near Music Row. For the next month the parking lot was home and office. They began writing new material and networking. Their new connections led to a co-writing session with David Fanning, who is part of the celebrated production team New Voice with Kurt Allison, Tully Kennedy and Rich Redmond. "Going into these appointments, you never know who you're going to meet or how it's going to go," Matt explains. "But when I wrote with David, we hit it off."

During the same weekend as the infamous Nashville flood, Parmalee and Fanning wrote “Musta Had a Good Time” - even recording the demo in the RV’s recording “studio” - oblivious to the devastation that was happening to the city around them. After the “Flood Sessions,” Parmalee went into the studio with New Voice to record some sides, including “Carolina,” and “Musta Had a Good Time.” NV played the songs for BBR Music Group President/CEO Benny Brown who was impressed and asked to see a showcase as soon as the band returned to Nashville.

Parmalee put together a short tour in North Carolina to fund the trip back to Music City. But after the first show, plans changed.

After their September 21, 2010 show, Josh and Barry were packing gear in the venue while Matt and Scott were outside loading their RV when two armed men knocked on the door. The men put a gun to Matt’s head and demanded money. Shots were fired. Scott, who possessed a concealed weapons license, fired back. One of the gunmen died and Scott was shot three times. One bullet hit Scott's femoral artery causing him to nearly bleed to death. "He bled out on the air flight to Charlotte, and his heart stopped twice," Matt recalls. "When we got to the hospital, the doctor gave him a five percent chance to live."

Scott was hospitalized in Charlotte, NC for 35 days - 10 of which he spent in a coma. News of the shooting spread like wildfire and the local news stations carried weekly reports on Scott's progress. Parmalee's fans turned out in droves to show their support. Through Facebook campaigns and benefits they raised enough money to help cover Scott's medical bills. The Nashville community also rallied behind Parmalee donating autographed items and VIP packages to help cover Scott’s medical expenses. "We knew we had a lot of friends and fans," Josh says. "But we found out exactly how many we had.”

By February 2011, Scott was well enough to get behind a drum kit for the first time and the band finally performed their promised label showcase. "We wouldn't tell everybody how bad off I was because there was no way I wasn't going to play that show," Scott says. "I was in a leg brace, but I only had to get through six songs. Parmalee had fought for so much for so long that we decided we hadn’t come this far to stop now." Through sheer willpower, the band nailed the set and landed a deal with Stoney Creek Records, home to ACM Vocal Duo of the Year Thompson Square and chart-topper Randy Houser.

Looking back on their experiences, the members of Parmalee have no regrets about the path they chose. “All the obstacles and craziness we’ve been through allowed us to help find our home in Nashville,” Matt says. "It took us going through all that to mold us," Barry continues. "In Hollywood and New York we were always pushed in opposite directions. But Nashville helped us capture our sound – a sound that’s authentic to who we are as both artists and as people."

“Artists like Jason Aldean and Eric Church helped pave the way for our country rock sound. If you think of Jason Aldean as the rockin’ side of country then think of Parmalee as the country side of rock,” Matt explains.

All of Parmalee’s hard work, dedication and perseverance is paying off in a big way. Country fans have voted the band’s debut single, “Musta Had A Good Time,” #1 for 4 consecutive weeks on SiriusXM’s “The Highway,” and the song is edging Top 40 at country radio. The raucous party anthem has been featured in national sporting event broadcasts from the PGA to MLB. Parmalee has been highlighted in USA Today, AOL’s The Boot, Country Aircheck and has been named a “Bubbling Under Artist” by Billboard magazine. On the eve of their first major music video release for “Musta Had A Good Time,” the signs are clear that after a long, tumultuous journey to Nashville, Parmalee is home at last.

Feels Like Carolina Review
After years working on their brand of Modern Country Rock, Parmalee are finally releasing their national debut album Feels Like Carolina. The album, which is named after the breakout smash hit “Carolina,” features a dozen tracks which showcase that whole brand of Modern Country Rock that has been gaining steam as of late on Country radio. It’s the kind of album that can be enjoyed by fans of both modern Country music and Modern Rock.

“Musta Had A Good Time” is the record that showcases this new sound’s archetype with the band’s playing accented by production from NV (Jason Aldean’s backing band and RedBow artist David Fanning). This tune broke into the Top 40 in 2012 before Parmalee released “Carolina” and it helped to break the ice with radio presenting Parmalee to the world. “Carolina” was the perfect break out single for Parmalee as it showed their softer, more less-in-your-face side than “Good Time” and that allowed more fans to enjoy the sound presented by quartet of vocalist/guitarist Matt Thomas, drummer Scott Thomas, basset Barry Knox and lead guitarist Josh McSwain, who all hail from the same town ( Scott and Matt are brothers and Barry is their cousin while Josh is their long-time close friend who joined the band when it formed in 2001).

The record the laid bad, sing-a-long ready “Day Drinkin’,” a song that fits right in with Carolina’s mid tempo modern country rock sound while “Move” is modern melodically country mood to the lyrics with a chorus that feels a little bit more rock in approach that may be a bit ‘abrasive’ to some at first but after listening a few times the song’s sound and lyrics (written by Brandon Kinney, Ben Daniel and Arlis Albriton) is too hard to resit and at the very least will make for a great Concert song, if not a potential radio hit. “Close Your Eyes” and “Dance” both come from that mid-tempo, love song, night time kind of song that has been the stock and trade of many hits while “Think You Oughta Know That” has a pretty melody (one of 6 writen and/or co-written by members of Parmalee) and a sing-a-long ready power ballad chorus that screams radio hit.

Another potential big hit is “Back In The Day,” a song written by artist Chris Janson, LoCash Cowboy Preston Brust, Ben Stennis and Jaron Boyer that takes the nostalgia of growing up and spins it into a likable mid-tempo yarn while “Already Callin’ You Mine” tells a story that often happens when love is starting out, where a guy is thinking about getting to know everything about that new girl. Craig Wiseman and Keith Anderson give Parmalee the rockin’ sing-a-long party tune “I’ll Bring The Music,” a song which recalls — at times — Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here” melodically.

Perhaps the most-personal song on the album, “Another Day Gone” finds the band singing about the things they want to do to make sure their life is right for everyone they love in it and that there are no grudges or any strife left in their life because nothing is guaranteed, something they learned when Scott Thomas was nearly killed right before the band got signed to Stoney Creek Records. It is songs like this — even if it leans more to Modern Rock than Modern Country Rock sonically — that showcase the strong potential of Parmalee to be one of the next great bands in Country Music. Feels Like Carolinashowcases a tight band with a strong ear for melodies and lyrics which suit the same part of the genre which is also home to Eric Church and Jason Aldean, among others.

Disclosure's dancefloor-dominating 2013 is getting another last-minute boost with a brightly coloured and beautifully bizarre new video clip for the duo's latest Settle single, "Voices."

Set inside what appears to be a co-ed correctional facility for dance majors, the clip features men and women in their respective powder blue and baby pink prison jumpsuits and funky burlap masks trying to one-up each other with their fluid moves. Stationed in between the rival sets is some sort of ritualistic leader figure in a elegant gown, while a guard takes a look on the proceedings from a peephole and someone in solitary flashes us with the seductive, down-there glow of a personal mirror.

That's, uh, what we got from it. You can try to sort of the specifics for yourself by giving the well-choreographed jailhouse video a look down above.

Who is Bobby V?
Born Bobby Wilson in Mississippi but raised in Atlanta, smooth R&B crooner Bobby V — known as Bobby Valentino until a lawsuit from a British performer of the same name — had a hard time convincing his skeptical parents that the music business was the place for him. When the 16-year-old Wilson hooked up with the Organized Noize Productions team, his parents knew he was serious and that his dream of a record deal was entirely possible.

With a group of friends, he formed Mista, a Boyz II Men-styled singing group that made some waves with their single "Blackberry Molasses." The group's self-titled album appeared in 1996 but failed to match the single's success. A second, unreleased album was recorded with producer Timbaland's help, but management problems split the group and Wilson decided to focus on college. After earning his degree in 2003, he returned to demo work. One of his demos ended up in the hands of Ludacris, who made Wilson the first R&B singer in the rapper's DTP (Disturbing tha Peace) crew. The sultry "Slow Down" announced the singer's rebirth as a DTP member in early 2005 and soon became a BET and radio favorite. As the ballad was landing on numerous schools' prom ballots, Def Jam/DTP released his self-titled debut, a Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart-topper. Special Occasion equaled that success in 2007, yet Wilson left his label on good terms and aligned with EMI. His first album for the label, titled The Rebirth and released through his boutique label, Blu Kolla Dreams, was released in February 2009 and featured productions from longtime collaborators Tim & Bob, as well as Carlos McKinney and Raphael Saadiq. Fly on the Wall, released on Capitol in March 2011, debuted in the Top Ten of the Billboard 200. Led by the Lil Wayne collaboration "Mirror," the singer returned on eOne in October 2012 with Dusk Till Dawn.

Pearls : Justin Bieber

"Everday We Wake Up Is Another Blessing. Follow Your Dreams And Don't Let Anyone Stop you. Never Say Never"

An old soul is the last thing you would expect to find inside Justin Bieber. But all it takes is one listen to the 15 year-old soul-singing phenomenon to realize that he is light years ahead of his manufactured pop peers.

After posting dozens of homemade videos on YouTube in 2007, where the multi-talented Bieber put his impeccable spin on songs from artists like Usher, Ne-Yo and Stevie Wonder, Justin racked up over 10,000,000 views purely from word of mouth.

“I started singing about three years ago,” says the Canadian native who grew up an only child in Stratford, Ontario. “I entered a local singing competition called Stratford Idol. The other people in the competition had been taking singing lessons and had vocal coaches. I wasn’t taking it too seriously at the time, I would just sing around the house. I was only 12 and I got second place.”

In an effort to share his victory with his loved ones, Justin began posting his performance footage online. “I put my singing videos from the competition on YouTube so that my friends and family could watch them,” he says. “But it turned out that other people liked them and they started subscribing to them. That’s how my manager found me. He saw me on YouTube and contacted my family and now I’m signed!”

Seven months after Justin started posting his videos online, former So So Def marketing executive Scooter Braun flew the then 13-year old singer to Atlanta, GA to meet with his elite colleagues. As if Justin’s natural singing talent wasn’t enough to impress Scooter’s inner circle, Braun knew Bieber was also a self-taught musician who plays the drums, guitar, piano and trumpet.

“Right when we flew into Atlanta, Scooter drove us to the studio and Usher was there in the parking lot,” remembers Bieber. “That was my first time ever being out of Canada so I went up to him and was like, ‘Hey Usher, I love your songs, do you want me to sing you one?’ He was like, ‘No little buddy, just come inside, it’s cold out.’”

All it took was a short time online for Usher to realize he was in the company of a future superstar. “A week later Usher flew me back to Atlanta,” says Bieber. “I sang for him and his people and he really wanted to sign me then and there but I still had a meeting with Justin Timberlake who also wanted to sign me. It turned out Usher’s deal was way better. He had L.A. Reid backing him up and Scooter has alot of connections and is really smart. I always tease Usher now and remind him he how he blew me off the first time we met.”

In October of 2008, Justin Bieber officially signed to a joint venture between Usher and Scooter Braun's new label RBMG and Island Records. His debut album, My World is an intimate look into the mind of a budding young renaissance man. With production from star hit men like The Dream and Tricky Stewart who produced “Umbrella” for Rihanna and Beyonce’s latest smash, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” Justin has everything he needs to achieve pop supremacy.

His first single, “One Time” produced by Tricky, is about one of Justin’s favorite topics, puppy love. Usher joins Justin on “First Dance” where the two share verses on a song that Bieber describes as, “A slow groovy song that people can dance to.” On the Midi-Mafia produced “Down to Earth” Justin digs deep to talk about growing up. “Bigger” finds the teenaged singer maturing at a steady rate, while motivating his listeners to strive for their goals.

“I’m looking forward to influencing others in a positive way,” says Justin. “My message is you can do anything if you just put your mind to it. I grew up below the poverty line; I didn’t have as much as other people did. I think it made me stronger as a person it built my character. Now I have a 4.0 grade point average and I want to go to college and just become a better person.”

A virtually untapped well of natural artistic talent, Justin Bieber is primed to be a solid force in music for many years to come. “I think older people can appreciate my music because I really show my heart when I sing, and it’s not corny,” he says. “I think I can grow as an artist and my fans will grow with me.” And just think, he’s just getting started.

Who Is Little Mix?
There are a number of important dates when discussing the vertiginous rise of the UK's best girl band, Little Mix.

There's the date they were crowned winners of The X Factor (December 11 2011), and when they scored their second UK Number 1 with their first single proper, Wings (September 2, 2012). But perhaps the moment the pop axis truly shifted was on June 5 2013 when the band's album, DNA, became the highest debut ever for a British female group's first album, entering at Number 4 and eclipsing a sixteen-year-old record previously held by the Spice Girls Spice album.

Within two years, Perrie, Jesy, Jade and Leigh-Anne – for it is they – have gone from obscurity to being one of the biggest bands on the planet, a steep trajectory going interstellar with the release of their second album, Salute and its ludicrously amazing first single Move.

They experiment with trap on the Beyoncé-inspired Salute, old school R&B on the groove-lead Mr Loverboy and experimental acapella harmonies on Boy. Bold, confident, emotionally-resonate and bursting with character, Salute is a quantum leap forward from what Little Mix have done in the past.

In 2014 they embark on their biggest UK tour, with dates including London's O2 Arena. They will also be supporting Demi Lovato on The Neon Lights Tour in the US.

Look out world, Little Mix are coming for you again.

Singles : Rick Ross ft. Jay-Z : The Devil Is A Lie

Listen To Rick Ross ft. Jay-Z : The Devil Is A Lie

Rick Ross is the poster child for quality over authenticity: the revisionist history of his life as a criminal mastermind is tolerated because he typically crafts great records. He is one of rap's most prominent figures as a result, and his long awaited follow up to 2012's God Forgives, I Don't has been oft delayed and subject to mercurial decision making. Ross himself is known for his embellishing style, whether in respects to his music or his carefully nurtured persona, but since the release of his critically acclaimed and commercially successful breakout Teflon Don, the rollouts from his albums haven't needed any push: his status sells records for him. It appears he is poised to make another run now prepping his next release entitled Mastermind with what is sure to be a momentum-swinging single.

The track is called "The Devil Is A Lie," and it features frequent collaborator and former Def Jam boss, Jay Z. The two MCs have worked together on the "Hustlin'" (Remix), "Maybach Music," "Free Mason," "3 Kings," and most recently on "FuckWitMeYouKnowIGotIt," but this may be their best collaboration yet. The record is produced by KE On The Beat, and it features heavy, semi-distorted horns and rapidly firing hi hats. Rozay masterfully maneuvers the soul sample with his gruff, resonant voice, and he delivers bars like, "Four stacks for the heels on my bitch feet / Car seats still smelling like 10 ki's / Tell a plug that I'm lookin' for increase / Wingstop, fat boy need a 10 piece." Jay Z approaches his verse here the same way he tackled the verse on "Free Mason," attacking critics who suggest a black man can't be successful without the help of a supernatural force. The MCs' unique chemistry is apparent throughout, and Rick Ross is always at best when utilizing soul. Jay Z brings an added dimension and perspective with his wit, and there is no question that this is a smash.

Don't take my word for it though, listen for yourself. Stream Rick Ross' "The Devil Is A Lie" featuring Jay Z below, and be on the lookout for more details regarding the MMG boss' new album, Mastermind, soon.
