Videos : Clinton Sparks ft. 2 Chainz, Macklemore & D.A. : Gold Rush (Explicit)
Clinton Sparks joins forces with 2 Chainz and Macklemore on his new single "Gold Rush," an ode to a gold-digging party girl. In this exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the track's forthcoming video – which was shot in Las Vegas and boasts a classic Cherry Red 1966 Cadillac Eldorado convertible – fans get a glimpse at how the on-screen collaboration took shape.
Sparks says he was unfamiliar with Macklemore before "Thrift Shop" blew up, and credits a friend for enlightening him. "I loved his music, the concepts, lyrics and I could tell we shared the same sense of humor by the comedy he injected into his videos," Sparks tells Rolling Stone. "Needless to say, I wanted to work with him." After an exchange of tweets, Mack threw down his verse, which is the Seattle MC's first outside collaboration.
The producer was also encouraged by 2 Chainz's open-mindedness following his studio pairing with Fall Out Boy, and pursued him for "Gold Rush." "I knew that he was into messing with non-traditional hip-hop music. I hit him up and conveyed the vibe of the record and what my goal was with it."
"I sent the record, got on the phone with Chainz and explained the concept of what a gold-rush girl is and he sent it back in three days," Sparks continues. Appropriately, it was a line in one of his freestyles when he was a part of Ludacris' DTP label that helped inspire the record in the first place: "She don't wanna fuck me, she wanna fuck my chain."
