It seems like only yesterday that a baby-faced lad named Justin Bieber was being touted as Usher's protege.
Now Bieber -- who's made more news for his, um, extra-curricular activites lately -- is playing mentor himself. His latest discovery, a 14-year-old girl called Madison Beer, has nabbed his own deal with Island Records; and on Thursday, Beer released her first official single, Melodies. (See cover art below,)
The song is available on iTunes, with an accompanying video, featuring the Biebs, on VEVO.
Like her champion, Beer got her start on YouTube, where Bieber found her, and where she has already totaled more than 4 million views with covers of Adele, Bruno Mars, Christina Perri and Etta James.
A Long island native, Beer also made a splash in the recent Ralph Lauren Fall 2013 Girls' Runway Show, and will make her feature-film debut later this year, with David Duchovny and Hope Davis, in After The Fall (not based on the Arthur Miller play, presumably).
