Jakarta wasn’t much in the party mood on the weekend after major flooding hit the capital. But nothing could really stop Swedish House Mafia from hosting their One Last Tour, a farewell concert before each member embarks on a solo career.
Swedish Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso are among top DJs and producers in the world, making them worthy of the support and love from electronic and dance music fans in Indonesia.
There had been concerns that the trio might cancel the gig due to the weather, but they held true to their promise.
Swedish House Mafia wasn’t scheduled to play until 1 a.m. on Jan. 20 at Ecopark in Ancol, North Jakarta, but thousands of most young revelers fill the arena at 9 p.m. to enjoy warm-up performances from DJ Dipha Barus, Mikey Moran, Louis Tan and Winky Wiryawan with up-beat and sing-a-long tracks.
At the scheduled time, a thin curtain that covered the One Last Tour’s main stage opened, revealing Axwell, Angello and Ingrosso behind their DJ set-ups and ready to party.
Without mercy, the Swedish DJs greeted the crowd with their hit single “Greyhound”, and from that point forward, it was clear the rave was really on.
The arena, which is close to the Jakarta Bay, was divided into two zones: Miami, for regular tickets, and Ibiza, for VIPs.
Some enjoyed the show near the main stage, dancing with a glass of beer in hand, while others stuck to the middle of the crowd on a soggy field, having a really good time as their outfits and shoes were covered with mud.
After their opening track, Swedish House Mafia bombarded their fans with more hit tracks like “Here We Go”, “Calling” and “Reload”. Their slogan, “We Come, We Rave, We Love”, flashed across the big screen. Several revelers even wore T-shirts bearing the same slogan.
“No rain can stop you from dancing!” shouted Axwell between tracks, encouraging the partygoers to keep on dancing despite the possible downpour.
Meanwhile, Angello and Ingrosso jumped up and down with their hands in the air, cheering the crowd on to dance even harder.
