The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700–4 is a two-door, two-seater sports car publicly unveiled by Lamborghini at the Geneva Motor Show on 28 February 2011, five months after its initial unveiling in Sant'Agata Bolognese. Internally codenamed LB834, the Aventador was designed to replace the ten-year-old Murciélago as the new flagship model in the Lamborghini lineup starting in 2011. Soon after the Aventador unveiling, Lamborghini announced that it had already sold over 12 months of the production vehicles, with deliveries starting in the second half of 2011.The suggested retail price is €255,000 in Europe, GB£201,900 in the UK and US$387,000 in the U.S.
The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster is going to be one of the most exclusive, expensive, and blindingly quick convertibles when it comes to market. Revealed for the first time, this ultra-exotic comes powered by a 700-bhp 6.5-liter V-12 engine, coupled to an ISR 7-speed transmission. Forming the core of the Roadster is a carbon fiber tub, which in the Aventador coupe weighs a scant 324.5 lbs. According to Lamborghini’s stopwatch, this all-wheel-drive mega-convertible accelerates from 0 to 62-mph in 3.0 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 217 mph. This kind of performance comes with a price, specifically one just north of $380,000 per vehicle.
The windshield surround, roof panels, and part of the rear window frame are finished in gloss black paint. To help reduce wind buffeting, the rear window can also be raised or lowered. A set of gorgeous forged aluminum alloy wheels – 20-inches, front; and 21-inches, rear – deliver the Aventador's power to the pavement, and come with the added bonus of weighing approximately 22 lbs. less than the standard rims. Pulling the car to a stop are carbon-ceramic disc brakes at each corner. The Aventador LP700-4 Roadster promises to be an absolute riot of high performance Italian engineering.
