Drai's Hollywood Review By Kathleen W. : San Francisco, CA
Celebrated one of my best friend's birthdays at Drai's on Thanksgiving weekend.  Live it large for a night and that's exactly what we did.  We certainly did our Yelp'n research to find the hippest spots in Hollywood and did not want any trouble at the door and with the bouncers to ruin her  birthday.  I am happy to say that Drai's followed through!

We utilized a personal connection to contact a promoter and get our names on the guest list.  When we inquired about table service, we were informed that it would be $400 for 1 bottle and 4 people max.  For 8 young professionals/new grads whose two priorities were getting drunk and having good dance music, this was too steep of a price.  We wrote back via email to see if we could get a better price on the table because more than half of our group would be driving and not drinking.  To our surprise, they happily obliged to only charging us $400.  The party is on!

Our group arrived in line at 10:45pm lookin' hot.  Quick entry, top-of-the-line VIP treatment lead us past the velvet rope and up the elevators to the top of the dazzling, W hotel.  Our host kindly seated us at our table, providing a drink menu where we ordered a bottle of Absolut and 3 mixers to share.  From what I remember, the drinks went fast as we spent most of our time dancing the night away.

The venue is truly incredible.  Huge glass windows lined the perimeter of the club so that if you pull away the curtains, you can see the gorgeous LA skyline.  There's a pool and cabana area for other party goers and a balcony on the other end if you want to get some fresh air.  GREAT MUSIC!  They played top 40's, hip hop, and even some of my favorite electronic music.  It makes the night go by so fast when you can have good beats to bump to.

I felt that the crowd Drai's attracted was quite pretentious.  Girls were the plastics of Hollywood.  The guys I encountered were very "proactive" in their pursuit of some booty, ya know?  Gross.  I like to keep it real and coming with a fun group of friends, other people did not bother me too much.

My group came to Drai's "for the experience" and not as regulars of this high roller party scene.  It just so happens that we played our cards right and had an awesome night.  I hope these tips will help you out too!
