Who Is DJ Kay Slay?
DJ Kay Slay rose to the top of his field by refereeing the biggest MC battles on his Streetsweeper mixtapes and on radio. Known as the Drama King, KaySlay grew up in Harlem making a name for himself as DJ as well graffiti kingpin Dez Tfa. DJ KaySlay quickly became one of NY's biggest DJs, churning out major mixtapes. His Streetsweeper series created a huge buzz prompting Columbia Records to sign him and release "The Streetsweeper Vol.1 & Vol.2.
In 2004, Slay became head of A&R for Shaquille O'Neal's label DEJA34 where he released his third album "The Champions" featuring DJ GregStreet. Slay was also the A&R of Ray J's Album "All I Feel" featuring hit song "Sexy Can I”. In 2005 he signed one the most lyrical artists in hip hop, Papoose. Slay has also received recognition from other big name hip-hop DJs, winning several Justo’s Mixtape Awards.
Kay Slay is currently the CEO of Straight Stuntin’ Magazine. The magazine hits newsstands quarterly and features interviews with the top Hip Hop artists and the sexiest models in the game. He has also just released his 4th album "More than Just a DJ" on Koch/E1 Ent. Catch "The Drama Hour", “Takin’ it to the Streets” and “Sunday Night Drama” only on HOT 97.
