Videos : Lana Del Rey : Tropico (Short Film) (Explicit)
Lana Del Rey's new short film Tropico is available for streaming online for free.
The title of the singer's new album, Ultraviolence, was also revealed with the release of the film on Dec. 5.
The film's posters describes the movie as "a tale of redemption told to the music of Body Electric, Gods and Monsters, and Bel Air."
The 30-minute flick comes with an "explicit" tag and stars the singer alongside Shaun Ross, It is directed by Anthony Mandler, who has mostly worked on music videos in the past, including Rihanna's Diamonds and Unfaithful.
The film features the Blue Jeans singer in a noir-ish setting in Los Angeles with sex and guns. It begins with a pious Rey, her head draped with a cloth, begging forgiveness of the lord who could be anyone from Christ to Elvis Presley to John Wayne, each of whom appears in flashes.
"Dear John, forgive us our sins," she repeats over and over.
The film moves on from Biblical origins featuring Adam and Eve into a realm of debauchery with strippers, sex, drugs and violence.
The singer wears black hair and a tear drop tattoo by her right eye for her character. Her relationship with a thug (Ross) lies at the heart of the film and by the end of the movie they embrace in an idyllic landscape. The film's soundtrack is all sung by Rey.
