About Taperia Restaurant
Brooklyn Heights really needed a place like this. Montague Street gained a great new venue as Taperia Restaurant opened its doors on Monday, October 14th.
The neighborhood has been eagerly awaiting the opening of Taperia at 132 Montague Street, the former location of Brooklyn Heights Laundromat.
The new owners, Philip Henn and Nasser Ghorchian, have lovingly created an elegant and festive space with outdoor seating on the street, a full bar, dining room with open kitchen, and a backyard dining area that is unexpected and spectacular.
Chef Hector Diaz has created a menu that brings Spanish fare to a new level. Our first dining experience, on opening night, was incredibly pleasurable.
Starting with a unique list of specialty cocktails, the Coco Mojito was a great takeoff on the usual with the flavor of coconut blending with mint.
Then it was on to Tapas. The first two plates set the tone.
Tuna Tataki was sublime, with a hint of sea salt that brought out the flavor of fresh chunks of fish, Foie Gras with crispy potatoes was life changing. A must.
As for the main dishes, Melted Pork was a robust portion of a Spanish classic. Paella provided a generous serving, chock full of seafood, chorizo and chicken. As for sides, Fried Yucca was a light and delightful takeoff on the French fry.
Save room for dessert. The Flan, a rich and delicious version of the Spanish staple, can't be missed.
On top of all that, the spacious bar provides two large-screen TVs for sports season.
Taperia Restaurant Review By Sally M.: Flushing, NY
"I met with my friends after my photowalk in Brooklyn Bridge Park and decided to try Taperia.
It's a nice, comfy setting and the service was friendly and helpful. They were always checking in us to make sure everything was good.
We weren't in the mood for large, heavy meals and the tapas were a perfect size!! We all shared the dishes. From the appetizers: meatballs, hams, cheeses, breads, fig spread and mustard - to the tapas: steak, chicken, rice and beans. Everything was tasty!!
The sangria was very nice; not too sweet. As for the dessert... OMG!! Traditional Milk Flan, Chocolate Semi Freddo, and Key Lime Cheesecake Spring Rolls. We all shared and it was all gone!!
I was told that this place was fairly new, so go check Taperia out!! It a nice place for food that is just simply filling!! ;)"
