News : Made In America Lineup: Kanye West, Kings Of Leon Headliners In Philadelphia

News : Kanye West, Kings Of Leon Headliners In Philadelphia

Budweiser has announced the lineup for its third Made In America Festival in Philadelphia this Labor Day weekend, with headliners Kings of Leon and Kanye West. Performers for the first Los Angeles edition, also set for Labor Day, will be announced around 3 p.m. ET. Made In America is the first festival to be mounted on both coasts simultaneously. Expect several of the Los Angeles performers to overlap with the Philly lineup.

The lineups are being announced via 3D neon posters on Budweiser's Twitter and Instagram accounts, created by visual artist Rizon. The photo-realistic renderings were unveiled via 6-to-7 second animations that populated every three minutes on Twitter and Instagram, culminating with the headliners' announcement. Along with Nike, Budweiser is believed to be one of the first brands to upload video content that's native to Twitter.

Additional performers at Philly Made In America include Spoon, Girl Talk, J. Cole, Pharrell, Steve Aoki, The National, De La Soul, Bleachers, Gareth Emery, R3hab, AWOLnation, Grimes, The City and Colour, Chromeo, Mayer Hawthorne, Tommy Trash, Baauer, Kaneholler, Cut Snake, Vacationer, Young & Sick, Will Sparks, Cherub, DJ Cassidy, Destructo, Penguin Prison, Holy Ghost, YG, Danny Brown, The Neighbourhood, 3LAU and KONGOS.

Mayer Hawthorne, Skype-ing in to a press conference from Los Angeles, was excited to be confirmed for his first Made In America. Though Jay Z carefully curated this year's lineup, Hawthorne didn't speak directly with Hova prior to the unveiling. "But I did sip a litte D'usse with him in Philly last year." BMIA will also be Hawthorne's first time sharing a bill with Pharrell, who cowrote and produced "The Stars Are Ours" for Hawthorne's 2013 album "Where Does This Door Go?"

"I'll have to get him on the line," Hawthorne said. "I'm excited to get a Tony Luke's cheesesteak, or some Jim's, I'm just really looking forward to getting back out there. I just went as a spectator last year and the whole time I was just thinking to myself I hope I get to actually rock this one day and I'm really looking forward to doing that."

The first Made In America Los Angeles will be held at Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles, while the Philly edition will return to Benjamin Franklin Parkway for its third consecutive year. Tickets are currently on sale through the Live Nation Mobile app and at www.livenation.com.

In its second year, attendance to the 2013 Made In America doubled from 40,000 to 80,000, a sign that further expansion might be afoot. Budweiser, Jay Z's Roc Nation and the City of Los Angeles spent a good chunk of March and April convincing the City Council to hold an event in L.A.'s Grand Park downtown before a final agreement was reached. At a press conference announcing the expansion, Jay Z said, "I want to thank Budweiser for putting together a show that's in the city, not some far-off place you can't get to," then quickly adding, “No disrespect to any other festivals, no shots. Look how beautiful this park is, it's accessible to everyone, it's inclusion it's not exclusion. We started two years ago in Philadelphia and had huge success, and I'm sure we'll have even more success here in Los Angeles. We're very proud to be here in America."
