About Toronado
Gritty Lower Haight isn't exactly a charming street, but there's plenty of nightlife here, catering to an artistic/grungy/skateboarding 20-something crowd. While Toronado definitely draws in the young'uns, its 50-plus microbrews on tap and 100 bottled beers also entice a more eclectic clientele in search of beer heaven. The brooding atmosphere matches the surroundings: an aluminum bar, a few tall tables, minimal lighting, and a back room packed with tables and chairs. Happy hour runs 11:30am to 6pm every day for $1 off pints.

No friiiigggin clue why it's taken me this long to review one of my favorite joints in the Bay.
Allow me to rectify this travesty.
Toronado is one of this city's shining stars. It's loud, it smells like stale beer, your shoes sometimes stick to the floor, the bathrooms just get grosser (and frankly far more interesting) as the years go by and the smart ass backbone of the place is indescribably endearing.
Their beer roster proudly boasts beers from all over the place, but it's also legit. This is no flash-in-the-pan beer tasting bar. This is a place you come to when you want awesome beer and a laid back vibe and you don't take yourself too seriously. With that said, they are serious about their beers. In fact I have learned a ton about beers here and discovered a variety of beers that are now in my arsenal of faves.
You can't call yourself a local or even an intelligent person unless you've spent some time here. So do you really wanna be "that" guy and miss out on the magic? No, I don't think you do.
