About Ba Bar
Ba Bar is a Vietnamese street-food and noodle spot from Eric Banh (of the delicious upscale Vietnamese of Monsoon). With the peculiar clutter of former tenant Watertown Coffee removed, the space looks spare and lovely with its marble-topped bar. There’s superlative pho, vermicelli bowls, rotisserie lemongrass chicken or Peking duck, various small plates, and more, all made with high-quality, local ingredients. Also: cocktails, including mint juleps and Moscow mules served in proper silver and copper cups. Also-also: Kung Fu Karaoke, with 10,000 songs in English and Vietnamese, on Wednesday nights. And Ba Bar is open until 4 am (!) on the weekend.
Ba Bar Review By Coleena S : Seattle, WA
Basically I'm a bit obsessed with Ba Bar. Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle are all over. However, Ba Bar is a classier space, a bit rustic, with a touch of modern design. The beautiful floor to ceiling cabinet is a sight to behold.
Happy Hour Chicken Wings deserve a standing ovation and let me tell you why. Meat on a bone has been an issue with me since I was young. Don't judge me, you don't know my life! :) Anyway, I sit here frequently and enjoy the wings along with my entrees.
Congee is amazing in the winter months. Is is pricey, YES. Can I get somewhere cheaper, probably, but when we want wings, we also order congee. Ask specifically for a soft boiled egg otherwise you could get a hard boiled egg, it just depends on the chef. Soft boiled eggs are better. Pretty sure thats a scientific fact.
Their vermicelli bowl is one of my favorites. Seriously. I ate here 4 times in one week. And at least 20 times in the last two months. Celebrated one of my birthday dinners here very late at night. They stopped serving wings a short while before my party arrived and because we promised to order plenty of wings, they politely obliged our request.
If you are still hungry after you've eaten, try their almond croissant. Incredible with a cup of Cafe Sua Da (Vietnamese coffee) cold or hot!
Service is always polite and pretty quick. Sometimes you can catch a kung-fu movie, sometimes its karaoke night. I always see the owner Eric Banh directing his staff and teaching them the intricacies of cocktail making. You can feel his sense of pride and accomplishment when he walks around. His sister Sophie has been in once to and she sat with me once like I was family and we talked about her other restaurants and she suggested menu items for me to try.
