Panasonic premiered the Lumix CM1 smart camera at an event during Photokina – to actually celebrate their 175th photography anniversary.
Presented as an all-in-one smartphone, the Lumix CM1 combines the (almost) impossible: Leica optics with the world’s largest image sensor ever built in a phone (its 1-inch-high sensitivity sensor enables users to capture immaculate images in low light conditions), a mechanical shutter, plus a manual control ring.
The device has the capabilities to handle 4k video recordings and captures photos in raw format – thanks to its 2.3 ghz quad-core processor. Not to mention, that images are viewed through a 4.7-inch full HD display. Yes, to all Apple fans out there, the Panasonic Lumix CM1 is powered by an Android operating system. Sigh. But at a resolution of 20 megapixels and an integrated wide-angle 28mm Leica Elmarit DC lens (with aperture of f / 2.8), it ensures quick response times for photo shoots and is therefor optimized to meet the needs of any professional photographer or amateur shooter.
Do note that the device weighs 204 grams and measures 21mm in thickness, plus that it comes with 2GB of RAM and 16gb of built-in, with a microSD card slot allowing up to 128gb of extra storage.
