News : Kanye West Stops Sydney Performance Until Seated Fan Proves He's Actually In A Wheelchair
While performing in Melbourne, Australia last Wednesday night, Kanye West allegedly demanded that his audience stand up and dance “unless y’all are sitting down because y’all handicapped”.
While performing in Sydney last night, he allegedly stopped singing during “The Good Life” and demanded, similarly, that security guards check to make sure that an audience member who wasn’t standing was in a wheelchair, TMZ reports.
Update: Video of that moment in Sydney has surfaced via Consequence of Sound—watch it happen below.
According to the report, West allegedly said, "I can't do this show until everybody stand up. Unless you got a handicap pass and you get special parking and shit." When security finally confirmed that the seated fan was in fact in a wheelchair, he responded by saying "It's fine" and continuing the show.
Supposedly, one person in the crowd waved their prosthetic leg in the air to explain why he was sitting. According to the report, members of the audience said it was probably a joke.
