Respect for women is maybe not football’s strength right now. But, what the hell, let’s have sexy NFL jerseys anyway.
Apparently, the official form-fitting jerseys made already made for women are neither form-fitting nor for women enough for Papi Girl, which is putting out a brand new line of skimpy football jerseys just for you, ladies. Actually, some styles do manage to at least take interesting new takes on the football jersey, although other designs seem unsurprisingly lazy and transparent.
The biggest problem here is that these jerseys aren’t officially licensed, so while the color combinations make it obvious which team they represent, die-hard team fans are probably going to blanch at wearing something branded with some company’s name, rather than their favorite team and/or player. Also, I think maybe a lot of women like the jerseys as they are? Not sure if sexualization is on the checklist for female NFL fans when they’re shopping for team gear.
By the way, no, believe it or not, this idea did not come from Roger Goodell. Given the absolutely red-hot week he’s had, you’d think so, but no.
