Videos : Kelly Clarkson : Tie It Up
Kelly Clarkson's wedding video is a little different than yours and mine. While ours might capture the magic of a special day with all of our friends and family, Clarkson's is a two-minute-and 49-second music video for her new single, "Tie It Up."
While the title of the track might sound like something out of 50 Shades of Grey, it's actually fairly tame stuff, including footage and still photos from some real-life weddings, a groovy banjo solo, and Clarkson giving it her all, barefoot in a cute white lace dress, performing in a barn. To top it all off, she catches the bouquet at the end of the clip and gives us a sly wink.
Kelly is also in full wedding mode in the cover art of the single, written by the team of Ashley Arrison, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. She's wearing a white dress with a veil on her head and holding a bouquet of flowers. Her other hand is tied to a man's, but that's the only part of him showing. Still, Clarkson wanted to keep it real. That hand belongs to her real-life fiancé Brandon Blackstock.
And if you think he was tied up against this will, you aren't far off. "He absolutely did not want to do this," Clarkson explains in the behind-the-scenes video of the cover shoot. "But, I'm making him!"
Clarkson and Blackstock are set to tie the knot for real on Oct. 30 in Nashville. Earlier this month, Clarkson took to Twitter to announce she had asked her childhood friend Ashley Donovan to serve as her bridesmaid. The couple is planning on "doing a smaller, homey version of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert's wedding at home in Nashville right after [Clarkson's stint on] the Maroon 5 tour wraps," a source recently told Us Weekly.
Meanwhile, "Tie It Up", which Clarkson debuted at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville back in early June, marks her continuing attempt to jump into the country market. The song is being promoted on country radio and has a definite Nashville feel. The song is No. 33 this week on Billboard's Country Airplay chart and appears to be moving up. It will also re-enter Billboard's Hot Country Songs this week at No. 48, after peaking at No. 33 in July. The "Tie It Up" video should help.
Thanks to Steve Carell in The 40 Year Old Virgin, every time we think of Kelly Clarkson, we think of this scene. Maybe Clarkson ought to consider titling a new song "Wax You Up" and get Carell to star in the video.
