News : Jessie J Goes Wild At 2013 Itunes Festival
Jessie J stomped her way onto the Roundhouse stage last night (September 23) for her turn at the iTunes Festival 2013.
Following a highly entertaining set from Lawson - which featured an unexpected Swedish House Mafia cover - the stage was set for Miss. J, and judging by her entrance, it was bound to be a Wild show.
Feeling: After being warmed up by Lawson, the crowd waited in anticipation for Jessie. While the audience may not have been made up of Jessie's usual Heartbeats, the roar was deafening as the countdown began. Bursts of smoke then filled the Roundhouse as the star emerged on stage to the familiar chimes of Price Tag
The Look: Jessie kept it simple, yet stunning. She donned a white two-piece under a sheer body suit, showing off her toned stomach and endless legs - an ensemble we think Miley Cyrus would have been most proud of. The 25-year old completed her look with huge gold, hooped earrings, and while there were no costume changes, she did add a white baseball cap to her look for Do It Like A Dude.
Tunes: Despite only having two albums under her belt, Jessie's set was riddled with hits - including Price Tag, Nobody's Perfect and Laserlight - which saw the crowd singing along in awe of Jessie. She also put a unique twist on her track Who You Are, kick starting it with Aerosmith's I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing. A medley of I Found Lovin'/Ain't Nobody also went down a treat, showing off Jessie's impressive vocal abilities and turning the Roundhouse into a huge disco.
Wild also saw Jessie welcome a familiar face to the stage, as she wrapped things up with It's My Party and Domino, which came complete with a Let Me Entertain You intro, that Robbie himself would have been proud of.
Seeing as the gig came on the release of her sophomore LP Alive, there was plenty of new tunes for the audience to get their teeth sunk into, with title song Alive, Excuse My Rude, Daydreamin' and Conquer The World going down a treat, the latter for more obvious reason...
Special Guests: Yep, Jessie had not one, but two of these up her sleeves. Brandy joined the Essex girl on stage to perform album track Conquer The World, with the clearly-overwhelmed star calling their duet "a dream come true". After sharing a quick kiss and cuddle with Brandy, Jessie brought out Dizzee Rascal for Wild - with their stint on stage together truly lifting the lid off the a Roundhouse.
Banter: If there is one thing Jessie knows about it's banter. She was constantly interacting with her crowd, at one point, even taking a selfie with them in the background. Saying the gig would "go down in history as the hottest show ever", she encouraged people to turn to their left or right and ask a stranger if they wanted to dance, which everyone did. Well, it was her party after all.
Celeb Spots: We were far to busy gawping over Jessie to go looking for celebs, but did see her Voice act Matt Henry hanging out at the venue. Tinie Tempah, Wretch 32 and Chipmunk were also in attendance.
Sweat Factor: Dripping. Temperatures soared inside the Roundhouse as Jessie encouraged the crowd to show off their best moves, leaving many sporting beads of well-earned sweat. The star herself continued to turn up the heat, working up a sweat on stage but still managed to look incredible, with her white body suit hiding any evidence of perspiration. The same could not be said for the rest of us, as we longed for Jessie's blonde pixie-crop for a bit of light relief.
Summary: Jessie proved why she's one of the best divas around, singing her heart out and showing off her impressive vocals - much to the delight of her devoted Heartbeats. She tried to get the crowd moving as much of possible, and with some results, unlike many acts before who have failed to entice the notoriously tough iTunes Festival crowd. Now, where we can get a white bodysuit from?
