At 18 years and counting, the Vans Warped tour is officially the longest running festival tour in the States, and has helped to launch the careers of countless bands from a wider and wider array of genres each year.
Originally launched in 1995 with a lineup that was predominantly punk, the tour has expanded to include a variety of pop and hip hop acts, and it has helped to launch the careers of bands like My Chemical Romance and Katy Perry. It has also served as a forum for bands that merge sounds, including 3OH3! as well as the band that holds the title for worst band ever - brokeNCYDE with their painful creation, crunkcore.
In addition to the official announcements, we're keeping tabs on all of the rumors as they arise.
Rumors so far:
In an interview with with Kerrang! magazine, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman announced that British metalcore band "Bring Me The Horizon's going to be out with us all next summer," something that in this writer's opinion counts as an official anouncement.
According to another interview, California pop punk band Forever Came Falling has been the first band officially confirmed for the 2013 lineup, as Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman announced that the band was the first band confirmed for 2013 when they played at a screening of No Room For Rockstars.
The internets had been saying that Orange County hardcore band Stick To Your Guns had confirmed that they will be appearing on the 2013 Vans Warped Tour. This rumor is now officially confirmed.
In addition, a handful of other rumors are circulating, including speculation that bands including We Came As Romans, The Wonder Years, Memphis May Fire and blessthefall will be appearing on the tour, but so far much of this seems linked to survey results about who folks want to see, and may or may not have any bearing on the actual lineup for 2013. Update: blessthefall has been confirmed.

We're keeping our eyes on the upcoming year, and wishing for a solid punk rock lineup from Lyman and co. (Seriously, how great would it be to see Warped return more fully to its punk rock roots, leaving many of the other offerings from recent years to spawn their own tour that caters exclusively to the 14-year-old girls that love them?) Personally, I'd like to see an Old Skool stage at all dates of the country. Something that has previously only appeared on west coast dates, the Old Skool stage has featured some serious punk pioneers, including Fear, Germs, Exploited, Fishbone, D.I. and T.S.O.L. If you are at all into heavy metal pop-punk, reggae or any obscure/emo genre in between, consider Warped Tour your official induction into "the scene". This is not a day to take yourself at all seriously. Take advantage of the opportunity to get sweaty, get rowdy and sing off key at the top of your lungs off key and unapologetically. You may also get a chance to meet the artists who wrote all those songs you keep on repeat (this girl did!)
See your favorite bands, and go home with a few new obsessions.
This year was my Warped maiden voyage and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The set list was perfection, the energy was off the charts, I would knock off a star because it was unbelievably hot and sweaty, but hey, if you're not ready to get gross with a few strangers/ new best friends, you're not a true concert-crawler!
Favorite moment: Meeting All TIme Low! It took everything in me not to cry.
