News : "American Idol" Alum Danny Gokey Is A Dad!
Danny Gokey is a dad.
The 32-year-old "American Idol" alum and his wife, Leyicet, 26, welcomed a baby boy named Daniel Emanual on Sunday.
Gokey tweeted the news: "It's Official, I'm a daddy!!!"
"Leyicet and I are overjoyed to welcome the new member of our family. I'm ecstatic to be a first time dad and to have a new little buddy to hang out with," Gokey said in a statement. "Thankfully, because of what I do, it will also allow me the flexibility to spend a lot of quality time with him. I have so many exciting projects ahead this year but a brand new baby is an amazing way to get the new year started. We feel really blessed!"
The couple were married in Florida on Jan. 29, 2012. Gokey was married once before. He lost his first wife, Sophia, after she suffered complications from congenital heart disease surgery in 2008.
Gokey, a finalist on Season 8 of "American Idol, released his post-"Idol" album, "My Best Days," in 2010.
