News : Raekwon, 'Lost Jewlry'

New Releases : Raekwon, 'Lost Jewlry'

Who Is Raekwon?
Corey Woods (born January 12, 1970), better known by the stage name Raekwon, is an American rapper and a member of the Wu-Tang Clan. He released his solo debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... in 1995, and has since recorded numerous solo albums, as well as continuing to work with Wu-Tang and providing an extensive number of guest contributions to other hip hop artist's works. He is the founder of his own label ICEH20 Records.

Raekwon is often cited as one of the pioneers of the Mafioso rap sub-genre. In 2007, the editors of About.com placed him on their list of the Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007). The Miami New Times described Raekwon's music as being "street epics" that are "straightforward yet linguistically rich universes not unlike a gangsta Iliad." (Read More)

Lost Jewlry Review
Raekwon will release his Lost Jewlry EP on Jan. 8, 2013. The "Butter Knives" spitter released the artwork (pictured above) for his latest batch of music with the EP's release date details. The artwork is icey thanks to several diamond encrusted chains, rings and watches. The standout bling would have to be the gold Wu-Tang watch, which he says was a Rolex.

In the lead-up to Raekwon's new EP, the Chef has been dropping appetizers before his main course. Two laid back, soul-sampling tracks have made their way online. "Neither One of Us" samples the Gladys Knight & the Pips track of the same name, while "Never Say Goodbye" is also a smooth burner in comparison to previous Rae tracks like "Incarcerated Scarfaces" or the more recent "Alphabet Soup." While these tracks haven't been confirmed for the Lost Jewlry EP, they definitely give a good taste of what's on the menu.
