Cars : 2015 Nissan Sport Sedan Concept

Cars : 2015 Nissan Sport Sedan Concept

Included in the Editor’s Picks from Autoweek Magazine, and named “Best Concept” at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show was none other than the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept. It was a complete magnet to Editors as far as appearance goes: a “V” like grille, a roof that seems to be floating, diamond shaped seat graphics and boomerang shaped headlights. It’s just a thought, and a hopeful one for many, that this “Best Concept” award winner will be the basis for the 2016 Nissan Maxima, just because the concept roughly shares the same dimensions of today’s Maxima, as well as the V6 motor paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission. Whether or not the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept really is the 2016 Nissan Maxima, time will be the one to tell.

When it comes to the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept, its appearance itself can be the cause to the effect of a few buckets of drool, because it’s absolutely perfect. For a few years now, eyes have been drawn to boomerang like taillights on other Nissan models, like the 370Z, and so Nissan designed boomerang headlights for the Sport Sedan Concept! Then there’s the “V” grille, which is quite similar to the grille of the 2014 Nissan Rogue and 2015 Nissan Murano. Finally, the unique “floating roof” and wide sloped windshield adds openness, which is a fan favorite. Just by glancing at the interior, your eyes will be instantly glued to the seats as they sport diamond shaped graphics.

Only because of Nissan, what we do know about the Nissan Sport Sedan is that it’s powered by a V6 paired with a CVT, or Continuously Variable Transmission and puts out an estimated 300 horsepower. However, nothing is definite about power, so we could potentially give a few digits to that number if the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept becomes a reality. Either way though, it’s similar to today’s Maxima power wise, and Nissan could very well surprise us all with power options if the Sport Sedan Concept becomes reality versus the concept that it is.

The Nissan Sport Sedan Concept somewhat gives a clear insight into Nissan’s design theme for the next few, and hopefully several years. It’s also an important vehicle for Nissan because it continues on their legend of combining sports car principles into a sedan, while bringing a new and energetic design direction to the table of that legend. The unfortunate part is the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept is intended only as a design study and has nothing to do with current or future models currently. Luckily time has a way of changing things, so maybe the Sport Sedan Concept can at least be a basis for future Nissan sedans.
