The hottest Jonas Brother, the one and only Nick Jonas left “The Administration” and started (again) his solo career without his brothers Joe and Kevin. He continues to promote his second overall solo studio album “Nick Jonas“, released on 10 November 2014 via Island Records.
Nick has been hard at work writing songs with multiple artists and recording collaborations for the album. He worked with American record producer, singer and songwriter Mike Posner and he also was in the studio recording with American rapper Angel Haze.
The first single from this era was “Chains” and it was described as:
a metaphor for what he has been feeling all these years…He feels free now for the first time in his life. He’s making music he believes in. He’s done apologizing for everything and trying to be perfect. He’s just going to be himself; if people like him, great, if not, he’s done giving a s?-?-?t The track was written by Amar Malik, Danny Parker and Jason Evigan, who also produced it. It was exclusively premiered on Island’s soundcloud page on 24 July 2014.
The song is pure sensuality, his voice and style reminds me to American singer Travis Garland. Mixing pop and R&B, Nick is awakening unparalleled musical atmosphere. The song fits perfectly and could have been included as part of the soundtrack of “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie.
The music video directed by Ryan Pallotta, and Nick Jonas, was exclusively premiered on MTV on Wednesday July 30th alongside its the release of the single on iTunes.
After the success of his second single “Jealous“ at radio stations in the US, and confirmed “Teacher” as promotional single, Island and Republic re-released “Chains” as Jonas’ next single in the States. The song impacted Mainstream radio stations on January 20, 2015.
A new version of the single features vocals of American singer-songwriter Jhené Aiko is scheduled to be released on digital retailers on 2 March 2015. Nick made the same move with the re-release of “Jealous” with the extra vocals of Tinashe.
A second music video called “The Wynwood Walls Edition” was filmed in early-March 2015 and it was directed by Winwood. The new version was premiered on 31 March 2015 through Vevo.
