About Silk Hookah Lounge
Next time you pass by the large black windows with the alien smoking hookah and do a quick hair and lip gloss check, take a moment to step inside Silk Hookah Lounge. The aroma of fruits, herbs and the friendly atmosphere will invite you in for a spectacular time. Located at 192nd Street and Northern Blvd, this hustle bustle Auburndale neighborhood welcomed its first hookah lounge on March 17, 2012.

Owners, Farrukh and Kirn faced quite an obstacle when deciding to transform a family-run European bakery from the 1940s into a hookah lounge. The bakery had been part of the community for over six decades and it was a challenge for them to convert it into something completely different and still be accepted. With support from friends and family, they have been successful in this endeavor and it has become quite well-known to the community in the short time they have introduced the business.

Silk Hookah Lounge is open seven days a week and serves customers twelve hours a day, hours ranging from 3pm to 3am. It attracts a mixed crowd, whether it is in terms of ethnicity or age, such as East Asians, South Asians, European and Mediterranean, however, one must be 18 or above to enter.

Aside from hookah, Silk also serves finger food, smoothies, frappes and soft drinks. However, coming to a hookah lounge means smoking a hookah and Silk is famous for their “Mystery Hookahs”, which ranges from $20 and up, along with many other regular and fresh fruit hookahs (prices may vary). In the short time Silk has been introduced to the neighborhood, they have become quite recognized and their successful events can speak for that. Silk has hosted events such as “Freaky Friday”, “Silky Saturday”, along with screening popular sporting events. Such sporting events which attracted great crowds were the Mayweather vs. Cotto, UEFA Euro Cup Final, Danny Garcia vs. Amir Khan. Silk also proudly hosts “Meet & Greet’s with upcoming International Artists. In 2012 Silk presented Arjun and Kamal Raja as well as a fundraiser for Healing4Aliza.

Silk also takes reservations for special events, birthdays, anniversaries and other group events. Reservations are recommended.

An environment is not only what a guest makes out of it, but also how the host carries it out and Farrukh and his team does an excellent job of keeping their guest comfortable and content. The spacious couch and booth seating arrangement is something unique from other hookah lounges in Queens and the spacing as a whole allows for a relaxing atmosphere. Great environment to bring in one’s school assignments, group research, or just relax and have a game of cards.

The location seems to have carried on its legacy of being “family-run”, because with its warm and friendly staff, the lounge allows for a personal and intimate feel; like being at home. The hookahs, whether it is a fruit or herbal one, or their own special unique flavors, taste and smell amazing, but one great aspect about Silk is that the smoke doesn’t hang around and clutter one’s personal space. Overall Silk Hookah Lounge serves as a great alternative to a bar after a night out with friends. Coming from a Pakistani ethnic background, Farrukh and Kirn have grown up in social gatherings with friends and family taking place over an enjoyable hookah and that is exactly what they want to bring to their community; a pleasurable lounging experience over exquisite hookah. Join us at Silk Hookah Lounge, where our hookahs as smooth as silk.

Silk Hookah Lounge Review By Daanyaal K.: Los Angeles, CA
"I came here on a cold winter night earlier this year before moving to SF. I had stopped doing hookah years ago but with friends at a new place, why not for old times sake?

We were starving at this point and luckily the food menu was more than just hummus, pita, falafel, and shawarma. They had chicken wings, tenders, samosa, biryani, and kun kabab. We ordered a couple hookah's, i know one of them was a fresh fruit pineapple which was really good. The food did take some time to come out but then again I would be worried if the food came out within 5 minutes. I love biryani, i would eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I'm not saying they had one better than my moms but its definitely flavorful, spicier, and more unique than 90% of the places in NY that "try" to serve it.

I think the hookah and regular food entrees are priced decently but the appetizers could be a bit lower, the food platter should be $15 for what you currently get or for $20 you should get a bit more. I look forward to coming here next time and trying the newer items that are seen on their Facebook page."
