About Barrio East
Barrio East in Shoreditch is a neighbourhood bar serving up cocktails, cantina and a club atmosphere with a global view. Inspired by Latino flavours and cultures, come here for a feel-good party night and prepare to be taken around the world with delicious and fresh cocktails as well as a drinks list that is sourced from every corner of the globe. The music is always cutting edge and eclectic, with an anything goes policy and a fun-time house party type vibe attracting all kinds of revellers. Barrio East is a London bar for everyone. The bar is split into two seperate areas, one specialising in secluded cocktails and privacy and the other in revelry and fun. The best of both worlds.
The food is all latin-inspired, with a menu colated by Mexican born chef Omar Romero; the top pick from the menu is the Queso Fundido (The Mexican Fondue, melted Monterey Jack cheese served with soft flour tortillas, tomato chilli jam and choice of mushrooms, chorizo or chicken). The drinks are equally tasty with the pick from the cocktails being the 'Cape Fizz' (£8) - consisting of Chilean pisco ABA, muddled red grapes, Xante pear liqueur, apple juice, lemon, dash of soda, garnished with apple fana and a bunch of grapes. All these stunning Latin combinations are a massive with the regulars and they hope that you go down to Barrio East to see what all the fuss is about. I visited Barrio East on one of the launch nights when it was slick and shiny and still smelling of new paint. I've been to Central but not North. I love the fact they have still kept their Latin American theme and been consistent despite the placement in Shoreditch. The cocktails and food are great and very authentic. It's great for private events as they have a couple of areas you can host private parties, the location on Shoreditch High Street is easy to find and convenient for getting home (Shoreditch High Street, Old Street and Liverpool Street nearest tubes), despite being a chain (by label) I think they still have an eclectic and independent flavour which will stand the test of time.
