About Schach Café
The Schach Café is located inside the former railway station at Rübenkamp. Built in 1913, the place was sold in the early 1980s and became a popular bar after its renovation in 1984. Dining, drinking and socializing here goes on until the wee hours of the morning. The spacious cafe and pub, seats approximately 120 guests and offers inexpensive meals and snacks. There are magazines and the daily press for you to read through while you're savoring the grub on your plate. Regulars and students often come here at night to play some chess or card games as well. In the summer months, Schach Café becomes a bustling beer garden and the place to be if you want to have a good time.

Not gourmet temple, but certainly a place that is sufficient to call again and again. The Chess Café in Hamburg offers a wide variety of dishes at reasonable prices. The kitchen is quaint and rustic with burgers, chips, pies, finger food and salads. Add to my favorites is the "Greek shepherds pan".
In the evening the restaurant is always full, (almost) regardless of the day. Larger groups so booking a table is recommended. The atmosphere is always so pleasant and lively. Certain sporting events (eg Champions League) broadcasts are shown on a small screen. Squares with a view to the canvas are on such days fill up quickly. On warmer days, an outdoor area is set up with long tables and benches. The Chess Café is always open until 2 clock in the morning, some days even to 4th It is located in the former railway station building Rübenkamp and accordingly has a commuter train - connecting locally.
I use the chess café regularly to meet friends and was always satisfied. So I can recommend this place so happy.
