Eats : USA : CA : Los Angeles : Canter's Deli

Eats : USA : CA : Los Angeles : Canter's Deli

About Canter's Deli
You'll find this noisy, crowded, but festive version of the 1930s Los Angeles institution next to the race and sports book. A stainless-steel counter and dining tables make for a clean, almost futuristic look. Dive into huge sourdough rye sandwiches packed with corned beef or pastrami, as well as generous sandwiches with other deli meats and cheeses, and their famous barley-bean soup. During big games (or March Madness) in the adjacent book, $20 gets you a bucket of four beers, a basket of chicken wings, and fries. The place is open daily until midnight.

Canter's Deli Review Sonya Z. : Los Angeles, CA
For a person of certain tastes, Canter's is a beautiful thing.

If you don't harbor somewhere in your subconscious an undying love for the classic middle-class American family diner / the retro diner vibe of old-school LA when it was all glitzy dirty & glam, then Canter's is not for you.

Canter's is open 24/7 and has it's own humongous parking lot. The place itself is huge, with two dining areas and a small bar attached. You can come here at any time of night and satisfy your need for a hearty Turkey Reuben or a pastrami sandwich or onion rings or a dessert panini or a slice of carrot cake or a banana split or a root beer float etc. etc. etc. etc. [insert diner foods here] [insert delicatessen foods here] [Canter's has it all and they have it 24/7].

Canter's is like Denny's (because of the "place to sit down and eat when intoxicated late at night" factor), but on steroids and AT LEAST 10x more cool. People watching here is the best. Shout out to the girl last night with two snakebite hoop piercings and a SLIPKNOT jacket, as well as the next girl who sat down and who looked eerily similar Dita von Teese.

The lighting is fluorescent, which I think is perfectly fitting for a place that caters so well to the post-midnight crowd. Things are already weird at night, why not make them a little weirder?

Vincent, you are a great server and I commend you.
