So many phenomenal mixes were released this week! New ones coming out nearly every day, it’s a lot to keep up with! Choosing one to pregame with tonight is a tall order. There are so many choices, however the one I will be bumping again this evening is a mix from an artistic trio that has remained strangely quiet lately, then surprisingly dropped a mix out of nowhere.
I’m talking about the enigmatic Amsterdam guys, Yellow Claw, with the release of Mixtape #8. It was their series of previous mixtapes and earlier Amsterdam Trap EPs that turned me onto their brand of crazy trap-influenced music. It has been unbearably too long since we’ve had an entire body of Yellow Claw work to cherish, but that wait ended this week!
Mixtape #8 has loads of newer Yellow Claw originals, remixes, collaborations, and releases from their Barong Family label. It gets buck with a bunch of heavy trap and a tad tribal with plenty of ragga-influenced “jungle terror” music. Plus they don’t shy away from a healthy portion of hard dance, which of course is going to draw me in! The blend of styles makes for a rage-tastic, borderline demented mix to start your night off with—not a bad way to loosed you up.
