Videos : Jack White : That Black Bat Licorice

Always striving to try something different, Jack White has revealed an interactive video for the rollicking Lazaretto track “That Black Bat Licorice”. Or more precisely, he’s shared three videos that interact. White combines three different clips directed by three different individuals: an animated story by James Blagden, a clip of a bunch of headbangers from Brad Holland, and a live action video from White himself. The animated and live action stories run parallel, while the headbanging provides an interlude of rocking out.

Viewers can control which clip they’re seeing at any time by holding “3” or “B” on their keyboards, or interacting with their tablets. Watch/play with/choose how to see the video below. (White’s webpage suggests that it works best in Google Chrome or Safari.)

A 7-inch single of “That Black Bat Licorice” is available for pre-order via Third Man Records. The track comes with a B-side of “Blue Light, Red Light (Someone’s There)”, a cover of Harry Connick, Jr. which White released last week.
